The courtyard room is well appointed and clean, but there is no sound insulation. Every conversation outside or alarm clock from a neighbouring room can be heard in the room.

The property is in a great location and the staff are amazing and will go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.

Best place to stay in Beijing. Recommended it to all. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in providing information. The hotel is very pretty, in a characteristic old town building. Nice restaurant, bakery and spacious room. Walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants as well as tube station.

Nothing really that didn't like. A bit of a flaky start, with the specific residence we'd booked not being available (presumably given to someone else) despite (or because) we had booked it many months before. There seemed a reluctance to book a taxi for us, instead just referring us to the mini-program on WeChat. Overall a great hotel, in a good location, with very pleasant staff.

Modern conversion within the heart of the traditional hutongs. We stayed in one of the residences, just across the alley from the hotel. Our apartment had a bedroom, lounge with sofa bed, bathroom and small kitchenette. Nicely done with smooth concrete floors. Two options for breakfast - either Western or Chinese. The Western had some great twists, and some spicey options. The Chinese was a little chaotic the one time we tried it - they didn't realise we were guests so gave us the full menu to order from, before realising their mistake once we'd selected everything. This hotel is in a great location - there is a super walking/shopping street in the hutong, not far from the hotel, and it is a short walk to the bell and drum tower. We booked a trip to the Great Wall through the hotel which went very smoothly. The advice is to arrive early at the Wall. We arrived at 11am and there was an hour queue for the chairlift. When we came down at around 14:30 there was no queue - so it might in fact be better to have lunch and then climb the wall.

Great location with multiple options in terms of food/shopping/connection to main attractions. Big room with comfortable bed and a nice roof terrace. The staff is very helpful and attentive

We had a bit of trouble with the shower not working properly but the staff was quick to help us resolve our issue. One thing I would say is that the location is in quite a small alley and an area with lot's of traffic. If you're heading to the airport or trying to catch a train, plan accordingly.

The room was divine, the staff was lovely, the location was great, and the breakfast was delicious. The women working the front desk helped us book excursions at the last minute and gave us great info about where to go in the city. The hotel room was spacious and the tea and fruit that was included was an added plus. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Beijing,

The room is on the city's old sewerage system. Toilet paper cannot be flushed into the toilet bowl.

Breakfast is nice, location is very good close to shops and train station, and room is good too, quiet and comfortable.

The breakfast was delicious, and the location - along with extremely helpful and well curated map - meant we felt like we really got the most out of our time there. Plus the staff were very helpful with getting us tickets.

We just couldn’t stay longer!!!

We travel quite a lot and the stay at The Orchid was one of the top experiences! It’s an amazing 🥲 lace in an absolutely awesome location but what makes the place special is definitely the staff!! What of a super stars! Lisa has even offered to us to wait for after our breakfast and accompany us on our first subway travel so we would understand the system a little better. Jihan, honestly, always there and helpful! Cindy same! Both so thoughtful and kind also. The staff at Toast! Hard to find. Both me and my partner have long worked in hospitality so know very well what we are talking about.

Excellent hotel : we loved the boutique feel of this hotel despite being in the hub of lots to see and do the quiet courtyard aspect of it felt great to come back and relax after a busy day exploring the city. Staff were amazing, friendly, proactive in helping with making our stay great ! Kids loved the resident cat guests !

Minor stuff. My room had glass above the bed - needed for light but needed cleaning, and the controls for their blinds were very erratic. Opening windows involved standing on a chair to balance a drop-blind on top of the opened window. No other way to open the blinds. Dimsum breakfast - about half the options weren’t available.

Good location- walking to many sites, subway station also not to far away, lots of eating options. Old-style building with roof terrace. European breakfast very good. Staff extremely helpful, including storing food in their fridge for me.

We would have liked to have had a coffee machine in the room but the tea provided was lovely.

Even before we arrived we knew it was going to be an exceptional stay. Communication prior to leaving for Beijing was great, and this continued throughout our stay. The staff at the hotel, especially the ladies at reception, were unendingly helpful. They helped guide us every step of the way through what can be an overwhelming and chaotic city - but they were a source of calm and great local knowledge which had us walking the Hutongs of Beijing with confidence. The room itself was full of character - lovely facilities, including an excellent shower and great toiletries. The little living area was perfect for our needs and the separate sleeping space upstairs made us feel like we had our own little home in Beijing. Location-wise, the Orchid is the best placed hotel in the Hutongs of central Beijing. The nearby streets (Gulou and Guijie especially) are vibrant, full of independent boutiques, coffee shops, cocktail bars and of course INCREDIBLE restaurants. True to form, the Orchid staff recommendations were some of the best food we’ve had - period. On top of this, the guys at the speakeasy bar attached to the hotel (15% discount as a guest!) truly love their craft and make exquisite cocktails. We only ever had the dim sum option for breakfast, but that’s simply because it was SO good we couldn’t go without it every morning. Would highly recommend getting breakfast included. Overall we can’t recommend the Orchid enough. We have stayed everywhere from tiny rustic boutiques to five star hotels and this has the best of all worlds to offer! You MUST stay here if you are coming to Beijing. We certainly will be if we come back.

The staff is extremely helpful and polite and speaks very good English. Thanks for organising a day trip to the Great wall of China and helping and advising us during our short stay in Beijing. The breakfast was really delicious, also the food in the onsite restaurant and bakery. The location was quite good - an authentic atmosphere in the middle of hutongs, close to the metro station, on a walking distance to some touristic spots like Lama temple and Confucius temple.

The location was super nice. Located in one of the traditional Beijing Hutong, everything was close by. The hotel provided us with bikes, so we could explore the city even better. All of the staff members speak impeccable English and helped us navigate with Chinese apps. Would definitely come back again!
