The staff weren't very friendly, but we only noticed this because of the cheerful friendliness of other places we stayed. The music in the breakfast room was loud and a bit overwhelming - we moved outside to the pretty garden.

A quiet, comfortable and well-situated hotel near all the restaurants and bars of Barrio Escalante. The room and bathroom were spacious and ours had a little garden outside. Breakfast was good.

As a smoker, the no smoking extended throughout the hotel. Would have been good if there was a designated area for us lesser mortals

Breakfast was good, too much to eat for me though. Michael and his team were excellent, and more than made up for anything lacking. He went out of his way to help me, which was much appreciated.

There was hardly any daylight in my room. Breakfast starts at 8, I had to leave at 7.30 and despite promises that at least coffee could be arranged, got nothing (there are nearby places opening earlier, though).

Firstly, this hotel exists! (Had to book it urgently as my previous choice disappeared between the booking and arrival). It is well located within walking distance from both the Inter-American Court and other institutions in Los Yoses/San Pedro and from the centre of San Jose. The room was equipped and spacious. It has seen its better days, but everything (except the safe) was functional, especially wifi and hot water. The staff was friendly and helpful, but make an effort in Spanish as not everyone speaks English. Breakfast is basic, but has fresh fruit.

We were ready for the breakfast at 8:45, but the receptionist said: sorry the breakfast-lady started serving breakfast one hr earlier today so she finished serving the breakfast also 1 hr earlier today!!!! I mean reallyyy???!!!

The parking lot is closed and you need to ask the clerk every time you need to go to the car or take the car in or out. The rooms and hallways could use an image refresh to look modern and enhance the experience.

there was mold and it was quite dirty. Not horribly dirty, I didn’t really care because I only stayed one night and it was inexpensive but if you are a clean freak then you probably won’t want to stay here.

The hotel is simple, so don't expect luxury. The days I stayed it was unusually cold in San José and without heating it was quite cold in the room, especially at night, but I guess this was a kind of uncommon situation.

The hotel is located in a nice villa and has a good location, 5 minutes walking distance from Barrio Escalante where many bars and restaurants are located. Rooms are spacious and the ratio quality/price is good.

We were staying with two small kids which means constant movement. The wooden floors in our room were so loud with the constant movement of little feet. It was overwhelming for using think if it were just us adults it wouldn't have bothered us. Also most hotels these days have more to offer as far as what is on the television. There were only 12 stations with literally nothing appropriate for small children so the time we spent in the room was difficult to try and keep kids quiet while being in a shared space hotel.

The location is excellent and so quiet for being in the middle of town and right off the busy street! Like a beautiful garden oasis.

Extremely poor maintenance of the structure: peeling walls, unkept garden with abandoned out-of-use materials. Poor breakfast with poor hygiene: I found a cockroach in the tea water! Wifi not working in the room.

I loved the pathways to and from the room, the fruit trees in the very back and just a very interesting place. The staff couldn't be more helpful and knowledgeable of San Jose.

I want to write to share my opinion about my short stay at the hotel. First I want to say that I remember when about 15 years ago, I was walking by the hotel on the way to the bus station, I always wanted to one day go visit the very prestigious hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel there was some type of failure with the internet and the staff could not find my reservation, perhaps a moment to arrive a little complicated with the internet situation. However, in a tense situation, the client should always be treated calmly and made to feel welcome, I did not feel welcome. When I handed over the keys and went up the stairs to the Suite with Mountain View, I couldn't ignore the damage to the ceiling and walls and a rather strong musty smell. Upon entering my room I see that it really does not have a "mountain view" it is a view of a wall with some plants and a patio with chairs and tables that clearly have not been cleaned in a long time. The damage to the ceiling in the patio area is noticeable as well. I chose to enter the room again, once again the humidity is felt in the room, so much so that the duvets on the beds feel wet. I tried to ignore all the adversities after a long trip where I only wanted to rest, when I uncovered a bed and removed the duvet, I found hair on the sheet, when I passed my hand through the sheet I felt a dirty sheet and bed, and also a stain on the sheet that I want to give the benefit of the doubt and think was coffe. It is worth mentioning the spider webs inside the room and outside in the patio area. In the bathroom, I found only 1 towel inside the bathroom, which seemed to be the one on the floor to get out of the shower, there is no sign of even 1 towel to dry your hands after using the sink. The toilet could do with a rim change, it is not necessary to change the entire toilet, but I think that a small detail such as basic maintenance after years of us

I only liked the location. Nothing else really. It shattered my expectation.s
