Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomHaving to move from one hotel to the neighbouring one for breakfast was a slight inconvenience but nothing to mark down for. Main feedback is that the room had a lovely great big bed, but was fitted with two smaller single duvet covers, as a solo traveler I’d been looking forward to having a big bed to myself and even if I had been travelling with my partner I would have still liked the duvet to match the mattress size. Also it would have been nice to have had a bottle of water in the fridge on arrival.
Location was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a nice size and was lovely and clean. The shower was great. The view from the window was also fantastic.

Czech RepublicThere was a very serious safety concern in our room on the fourth floor. The large windows could be opened fully and were of a size that a child could easily fall out. In our room the window lock was broken and the window could not shut properly, so the window was always slightly open, meaning even the wind could open it fully.
Staff were helpful and the room was a good size. Convenient location for the city center, public transport and main station.

United KingdomNo one on reception. Had to check in at the sister hotel 50 yards away. A little confusing upon arrival. Ordered a taxi through the hotel. As we checked out there was no one on reception duty. A taxi was waiting outside and confirmed my name and location (the airport) so I got in. 30 minutes later the hotel ring to ask where we are as our taxi is waiting? We had got the wrong taxi! The male receptionist would not accept my explanation and said that we would still be charged the taxi fare and put the phone down! Yes we have been charged £30 on our card. Otherwise fine, but be aware of the unmanned reception issue!

ItalyThough the room was overall nice, it needed some serious maintenance, especially in the bathroom where the sink was leaking. A light was not working and a curtain was broken. They are just details but the impression is that the facility is somewhat neglected. If you're a light sleeper you could also be bothered by the noise outside since the room is directly on the main square.
The hotel is located in between the train station and the city center so it's a good place to move around. The people at the reception were friendly and helpful. We also arrived earlier than check in time but since our room was ready they gave us the keys immediately at no extra cost.

PortugalThe coffee machine capsules were only provided one night of our stay (we stayed 4 nights). The day after I call reception for more capsules and they first said they were going to provide then they provided coffee powder which is not what the machines uses and last they never calls us back to say that we had no coffee machine in our room which was ridiculous as there was one. The reception of the hotel is in another building which doesnt make one feels like entering in a hotel.
The receptionist was very friendly, gave us a very good tip to a restaurant nearby. The location was amazing. We got a room with a balcony and an awesome view. The sound proof widows were perfect and the bathroom had a heater under the floor which made my showers more comfy
