Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Great breakfast, nice choice of items. The location in the cellar was unique. Our bedrooms were spacious. Bathroom had a great Walkin shower.

AustraliaNothing but the doors are creaky - like a real castle experience.
A real Schloss experience in Germany. Beautiful architecture, full of history with a vineyard to match - specially if you love Riesling. The rooms are big, comfortable and private. Breakfast included made to order eggs with a great selection. Excellent experience!

AustraliaThis was a unique stay and something we really wanted to try. It was very quiet so we were one of only two couples staying there so had plenty of space and basically the entire castle to ourselves. We stayed in the ZauberKammer which was very spacious. The facilities were fairly basic but one would expect that as it's not a hotel. Overall it was a pleasant stay and the host was always available to assist if needed.

GermanyI’d wish to have water kettle and hair dryer in the room. the ceiling light was broken so the room was relatively dark at night but the host lady provided extra stand lamp.
I came on a sunny day so could very much enjoy the spectacular view of the castle and grapevines. The room was renovated and well-equiped. Breakfast was also good that I’d recommend to order as the nearest restaurants are 1,5 km away downhill and open late.

BelgiumThis hotel was more of an experience than simply a stay at a hotel. The rooms are, obviously, in a castle and are authentic both in positive and negative ways. We were thrilled with the antiques, squeaky door, and knights armor right outside our door. However, you hear others at the hotel easily —especially walking above you. The site is also not well suited for persons with a disability. The breakfast room is in a cellar accessible from the courtyard through a door with uneven and poorly lit stone steps. Checking in and out was not at a desk per se, but literally occurred outside at a desk like structure in a part of the courtyard—if it had been very cold or rainy, this would not have been feasible. If you’re flexible, ambulatory without the need for well placed stair railings, and have a sense of adventure then you will love this place.

CanadaOur shower did not have enough hot water for a shower but we had a separate bathtub which did have hot water so it was ok. The restaurant is in the basement cellar and we were the first one in for the day so the musty smell was very strong especially in the back room.
It’s a beautiful and real castle! Staff is very helpful. They were not on site but we can reach them on the phone 24hours. They were willing to help us with early morning breakfast and etc. The room is very spacious and furnished with antique furniture but the bathroom is updated and clean. The restaurant is located basement sellers. It’s unique setting and good to take photo.

United StatesNothing really. It was slightly our of our typical price range, but absolutely worth what we paid (and probably more!!)
Everything here was amazing! Our kids had a great time staying in the castle and we didn't want to leave. Everyone was kind and welcoming, even given our very limited skill with German! We wish we had given ourselves more time to explore the area, but we're only there for one night! We reserved a family room and it was 3 bedrooms, which was lovely for our family of 5 and gave the kids a little space from each other, which is often hard to come by when traveling.

IndiaThere is no concierge support and no room service which makes little inconvenient if you are looking for a complete package. Certainly covid times have clearly taken its toll and shortage of staff was evident. Apart from breakfast there was nothing available during the day. So you have go to the town below to pick essentials.
Location is fabulous and it will be more beautiful in summer. It gives you a great experience of staying in a castle overlooking the town with vineyards all around. The rooms are spacious and view simple exceptional. A must visit if you want to experience a piece of history from the 13th century.
