If other guests don't follow the noise rules their parties can be heard from the rooms, unfortunately this was the case for us on one night of our stay. I would recommend bringing earplugs just in case.

You have to walk up two stairs with your luggage. I didn't see any elevators. The hygiene is not up to standard. Entering the lobby immediately gives a funky smell as if it either hasn't been cleaned properly for a long time or not properly aired. The room smelled okay but you do not want to find brown-yellow stains in your toilet that are gone when you use the toilet brush, yuks. The shampoo bottle was empty btw. The furniture in the room, the hallways are old and rundown. It is a cheap hostel, but for this price you usually can find much better but I don't know about Freiburg of course. Probably good for young people and backpackers.

Room is okay, has a fridge and heated bathroom floor. It has a large common room and kitchen. Around the corner is a supermarket. The train station is a short 10 minute walk. The parking garage is below the building.

No complaints, only the high price, as we had to book 4 beds although we were only 2 persons and no other availability.

We spent only one night, booking in very short notice since our flight plans had to be changed that day. Check-in very convenient, location is good, close to station and even downtown. Basic room facilities, as one will expect anyway, but the separate dinner room and balcony were a plus, in addition to warm space, considering the freezing conditions outside. The space is quiet and the also the common space is nice.

Spacious room and very clean. I also really appreciated that the room was cleaned multiple time during my stay including a change of towels. The bed was very comfortable. I was very happy with the mini fridge, the WiFi and the shared kitchen as well.

Fridge in rooms was a bit old. The two main things I did not like were a) the heat in the room. it was almost unbearable and I did get heat exhaustion. We did ask for a second fan by the second day, but even with this, the room was like an oven. If the weather is this hot, I think you need air conditioning. The other thing I did not like was smoking in the public areas. It stank and put me off using the balcony or lounge area due to the bad smell and risk of inhaling cigarette smoke. The 2 receptionists we interacted with were helpful, but not very warm or happy looking.

Safe, clean, good location, especially for onward travel, good kitchen, big room, great shower. Nice clean sheets and towels and comfortable beds. I liked that we could buy cold drinks at reception. One receptionist was helpful in giving us a fan for our room. Communication before the stay was helpful and efficient. The key safe and key code for entry worked well.

Groups of people (between 4 and 15 people) hung out on the balcony every night between the hours of 10 P.M. and 1 A.M. (22:00 and 01:00), talking loudly, playing music, and smoking, and sometimes on the balcony below StayInn's balcony (the Goethe institute balcony), and sometimes on the ground-level area. Because it was summer time, and we wanted to leave the windows open for fresh, cool air, we struggled with the noise especially, which was usually louder than us talking to each other, and it prevented us from going to sleep as early as we would've liked to. Because there is no reception/management around during that time of night, there's no "authority" figure to go and tell people to be quiet during what are "officially" quiet hours, so it fell to myself and other tenants to go and tell people to quiet down every time after hours of waiting for them to quiet down. We wound up avoiding the problem one night by just closing the windows and relying on the fan in the room to keep us somewhat cool, but we missed the really cool and fresh air from outside.

The parking garage, private bathroom, and bookable bedroom were incredibly convenient, and the price was excellent.

The fan made a horrible sound and was not really possible to use all the time in spite of the heat.

The location was not bad and the room was spacious. Our room had been upgraded, so expectations were high.

No mattress and pillows protectors, only sheet. The room was underneath the roof, so it's very hot despite the fan provided (we travelled mid June).

Great location: walking distance from supermarket, restaurants, bars and city's center. Staff: helpful and nice. Reception opening hours: 8am to 8pm. Commun kitchen and coffee machine accessible for all the residents, very convenient. Towels and shower's gel provided, so appreciable. The room and the commun areas were clean.
