Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesN/A, all is perfect
I stay frequently at Mosquito, it never fails to disappoint! Staff are wonderful and friendly, there’s a chill vibe until the weekend when it turns into a party scene, which is what we love but might not be for everyone. This trip the DJ, JAY, was fantastic, so serious about the music and vibe, a total pro. I will be going back in a couple of weeks and hope for a repeat of the perfection of my visit a week ago, priceless time with my young adult kiddos. I always meet the coolest people there, it’s a very diverse international crowd which I love. Also there’s a market of vendors of lovely handmade local products on the weekends, so cool to support the locals!

SloveniaBreakfast very basic with uninterested staff, alltogether the F&B staff was quite demotivated with couple of exceptions (two off them and the bartenders where great). The manager was just walking by with serious face and only engaging with his friends and apparent VIP guests. Pity because prices are quite high in comparison to other places in the area, and maybe if you motivate the team who is working there it could be more pleasant to order drinks and food without having the feeling you are annoying them even though you are a paying customer.
The property itself is amazing. Nice rooms, great location, beautiful garden and lounge area right on the beach with sunchairs, loungers, beanbags, shower and everything you need to relax all day. Reception staff amazing, always happy to help with good speaking English. Restaurant food and drinks although on an expensive side, very good and tasty. Wifi ok, but when a lot of people there works a bit slow, but when on holiday maybe it should not bother you ;)

United StatesCould take a while for warm water int he shower and the door to our room was difficult to open and close.
I was hesitant to book a hotel called The Mosquito but while traveling in the DR I learned it's a very upmarket brand of local hotel, restaurants, and bars. Sure enough I saw other Mosquito properties in Santo Domingo and Las Terrenas. All are tastefully designed and have fantastic food, cocktails, and service. El Mosquito in Playa Bonita has a laidback bohemian vibe, perfect for low key beach goers who are happy to lounge on soft cushy poofs and day beds while working on their tan in front of a fantastic surfing beach. My friend and I took surf lessons, easy to arrange at the hotel and were able to stand up and surf after just a few minutes in the calmer section of the bay a short walk down the beach from the hotel. If you are more experienced you can surf right in front of the hotel. The water is a stunning aqua and felt like a bathtub (84 degrees F in Feb). There is a lovely walking path that connects several properties and beaches if you like to take long strolls- you can go for miles along the the sand. We saw rainbows on 2 different mornings. The complimentary buffet breakfast included an omelette station, oatmeal, cereals, breads, and fresh fruit. The bar and restaurant were fantastic with unique Peruvian offerings to try. There were many European travelers and a few families with young children also staying at the hotel. There was a little mini fridge in our room and a 5 min walk away there was a pharmacy if you needed to buy anything. Probably about 15 min drive from downtown Las Terrenas if you wanted to go out to dinner somewhere different. Only 3-4 options along the stretch to walk to on Playa Bonita.

CanadaConstant music. It's OK in the afternoon, but around sunset, when eating dinner, and at night it would be nice to just listen to the sound of the waves instead of the forced entertainment.
Great location, great beach (nice mix of big waves in front of the hotel, and no waves a 5 minute walk east), excellent food, good drinks, nice room. Amazing stay overall.

United StatesThe Corona Beer sponsored music venue each night was incredibly loud and was not the "vibe" we wanted for the grandkids. The music was overbearingly loud, and the influx of young "influencers" and "pretty boys" was not particularly comfortable. Their arrival also jammed up the parking lot so we had limited parking options upon return from a trip into town one evening.
The Mosquito Hotel is quite nice for a beachy basic location. The food at the restaurant was decent and the buffet breakfast was good, the grandkids liked the variety and fresh food. The location is safe and the adjacent beach provided hours of entertainment and exercise. It is safe to swim and surf right in front of the hotel.
