Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWifi a bit patchy, but what would you expect with walls this thick? Definitely not a criticism! It would be nice to have a bit more furniture on that glorious terrace.
Great location, quiet but very central, a lovely old building oozing quirky character. The antithesis of the bland identikit hotel room! Warm and helpful hosts. I had splurged on the junior suite which was great. It was huge and gave out onto the rooftop terrace with views to die for.

United StatesWifi does not reach lower level rooms, but fine elsewhere in facility. They provided a study for spous's zoom class. Quite a hike from parking but that is well labeled in booking and standard in the other villiages we stayed in so far as old town streets are not built for cars.
Beautifully well kept historic period abode in heart of old town with gorgeous views of valley below. We had a quaint bahia room (cellar level) but with full view double level terrace. There is also shared rooftop terrace, lovely inner courtyard and library. Feels like you stepped back in time to 18th century but with indoor plumbing. Optional breakfast a must!

CanadaHidden ring bell to enter the property, internet not penetrating the room walls (but available in the patio).
The view is breathtaking, the room keeps an ancient and artsy look, amazing hosts. An oasis of peace if you want to disconnect from the city noise.

NetherlandsThis is a lovely hotel located in a quiet street in the beautiful old part of Arcos de la Frontera. Special atmosphere, feels like coming home abroad. One of our rooms had a superb view on the valley downhill, with terrace!! Great restaurant closeby.

United KingdomNothing. We liked it all.
This was our first visit to Arcos de la Frontera and how delighted we were to stay in La Casa Grande. It is gracious and welcoming, like walking into someone’s home, with first class hospitality from all the staff. Breakfasts were superb! The spectacular location of this hotel make it a very special place to stay and our room had the benefit of a private terrace with comfortable chairs from which to enjoy the lovely views. Because the hotel is on a pedestrianised street there is no parking but it was very easy to leave the car in the nearby Paseo de Andalucia underground car park and take a short (€6) taxi ride to the hotel. It would be our first choice on any future visit to Arcos.

United StatesCan't think of any!
This tastefully renovated 18th century building is located at the very top of the hill with the most magnificent views of Arcos. I feel the view from their roof terrace was even better than the city's public view points! But the highlight of the stay was the lovely "boutique" style decor and the incredible service received from the whole staff. It's a truly unique and cozy experience. The Breakfast was very uniquely served and outstanding.

AustriaGreat place to stay, apparently privately run, owner seems to live there, which is great and you feel it. Quite an original old house, we slept in the lower floor, which sort of is / was the basement but still feels nice as you have access to an outside 2-floor balcony / terrace with a remarkable view! Our friends stayed at the top floor with a rooftop terrace - amazing! Have a bottle of the housewine there ... Super breakfast, but you need time if there are more guests.

Epic view, the site and sound of the birds in the morning unforgettable, breakfast was a feast fit for a king in the beautiful courtyard, and the room was very tastefully put together, I loved the mosaic in the bathroom in particular. It felt like a genuine getaway.

United StatesThe floor had several small steps, being an old building. The few cars allowed in the old city sometimes drove too fast.
The hotel is charming, and has an unbelievable view. There is also a rooftop terrace with an even better view. Arcos is an old town with several excellent restaurants a short walk away.
