Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

El SalvadorI didn't like the walls, are very thin and at night, it was a lot of noise outside and the neighbors were noisy too. They kept turning the bathroom faucet on and off very loudly.
The staff was good and the location of the place was amazing because I had a lot of places around to go.

IsraelThe entrance of the building has bad smells also at the elevator, the room is very small but comfortable. The shower is small and you can get burn from the iron. There aren't many electrical outlets.
Excellent location right on the gran via metro, the team was more than just nice and helpful, the air conditioning was amazing and new, and there is hot water at shower also was very clean was a real pleasure

GermanyThe stairs at the 1st floor were very slippery, bit dangerous for kids and older people. Something else that wasn’t a problem per se and it's not the hotel's fault, but it was uncomfortable: there was a prostitute place at the building next door
The staff is great, the air conditioning worked well, the flat was small but enough for a couple of days. There were stores and a subway station very close to the hotel

GeorgiaThe bathroom was tiny and the water had a trouble to flow, so it was gathered at your feet. You could hear neighbors voices all the time, also the street was noisy, but for the price everything was acceptable, staff was helpful and pleasant.
Location was very good, environment felt safe which was very important for me as a solo traveler.

SwitzerlandThe front door is thin, and we got a room right by the reception, so we could hear all the steps, all the conversations from the hall. Thin walls, we could hear the neighbors. When using water, the pump was loud. It was a bit tight: you can only walk in front of the bed only sideways.
The hostall is ideally located: less than a minute to one of the central metro stations, and close to a pedestrian street (but quiet enough). The room has a teapot, cups, and there were also muffins. There was heating and no problems with hot water.

NetherlandsThe street seems a somewhat vague/dim backside street behind luxury main streets. But it's just around the corner from the main streets. I double checked the adress in the main street; avoiding to look like a 'lost tourist' in this darker street. In the morning there was a small bleeping noise; I think it was the door opening system that had some error. Probably just incidental. The curtains could have been a little bit darker to avoid light from the courtyard.
Friendly staff, helped with our luggage. Extremely central location. The center of Spain. Next to metro stop Gran Via. Next to Gran Via and Puerta del Sol. It was a great place for one night to get a short impression of the city during a trip through Spain. We had the long small room with two beds in a row. It's around a very small opening/courtyard within the building. This is how many buildings in Spain are built. Very compact and avoiding heat in summer. On this backside there was no noise from the street. No reception in the early morning, but we could leave individually. Water cooker, and coffee/tea and a muffin provided. Very well kept.

New ZealandEl Hostals signage was, how should I say it? Discrete, subtle, definitely didn't leap out at one.
Very close to Gran Via Metro station. The station has been modernised 2019-2022 with mobility access to all platforms. Getting to and from the main Bus Train and Airport Terminals to El Hostal is a breeze by metro. Calle Del Caballero de Gracia, the street El Hostal is situated on, is in a very lively part of town with Bars and eateries dating from pre Hemingway days to MacDonalds. You won't go hungry and you wont go unentertained.

United StatesWe had problems with communication with stuff, which I find great in a way, I don't think everyone should speak English but they should be aware if they don't and take some more time and effort to try to understand you.
The rooms are very small but nice, the bathroom feels weird because you can hear the sound of pipes pumping water each time you use the shower or wash your hands. The little balcony was the nicest thing and in total, the atmosphere was genuine and nice in the room.
