Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI truly loved my stay there. Jeli (sp?) was a wonderful host. The room was small but adorable, the view of the mountains was spectacular, and the location was perfect.

United KingdomThe only fridge was in the outside kitchen. Rooms are a little tight.
The location is fantastic. Close to both bus stops, restaurants, and even a stream to soak your feet after a hike. Full kitchen facilities. My room had mountain views which was great. I enjoyed the outdoor eating area, and loved watching the moon pop out behind the mountains at night. Geli was a fantastic host who kept everything super clean and running well. We communicated mostly with google translate. Modern bathroom although a little small.

AustraliaIt's not a negative - but future bookers need to understand that the rooms are not large. They have the double bed and room to walk around either side - and that's about it. But this area is about being out in nature... so you were either out walking - or home having a lie down. The room size is irrelevant - but you wouldn't want multiple suitcases! Bathroom is very compact, a large person would find sitting on the toilet a challenge... but for us it was fine. Also - as to be expected given building type - stairs only... no lift.
Las Arenas is a great town to base yourselft for walking and hiking nearby trails. Host Gelli was friendly and patiently used her phone and Google translate to explain the accomodation and also hold conversations about where we were from etc. Great parking in the big grassed area right outside the front door - which is also where campervans set up for free. Over the weekend this area was busy (~ 40 vehicles) and yet it was super quiet. Sleeping with windows open all you could hear was the bubbling river which the pension overlooks. 2 minutes only to walk to the bus stop that takes to you Poncebos (and other hike starting points). 2 minutes the other way and you have bakeries, cafes, resturants etc. I appreciated the use of the open air (semi outdoor) kitchen and all it's utensils. Been travelling for 4 weeks in hostels etc and it was nice to be able to cook up a simple and cheap pasta dinner for a change.

BelgiumOur stay at the Pension was great, parking with plenty of space right in front and the host is super nice! It was very convenient to have access to the outside kitchen. The kitchen equipment wasn't the cleanest, though this is not to be blamed on the host but unfortunately fellow travelers). Great location for access to the Picos de Europa with great hikes.

United StatesThe bathroom has been updated, but it is very small. Nowhere to put things out. The room itself was OK sized (with 2 double beds), but no desk or places to put things.
Rustic charm, and the hostess was wonderfully helpful. Great location for exploring the Picos de Europa. Free parking. Sleep with the window open and let the babbling brook lull you to sleep. The town of Arenas de Cabrales is a sweet, quiet country town, with a very important cheese tradition. The kitchen facilities were great.

United StatesAs it is an older building, you some times needed to decide on lamp or charger.
Our hostess Gelé was very personable and warm. Very little English-speaking was done in Arenas de cabrales and it was the same at the pension. But we wanted for nothing. The community kitchen allows you to keep a low food budget in a well stocked space. I shared a picture of the community space. Rooms on the river side allowed us to listen to the river and it was the best night of sleep our entire trip. I shared a photo from our window.

GermanyThe room was quite small for four persons and hadn't space for a table or something like this (but it had a balcony :-)). The bunk bed wasn't too spacious and the ceiling quite near. Only one (very long) pillow for two persons each.
A nice place: definitively very friendly staff, very clean and tidy, country-style, balcony on this (4-person) room. For this location, the price was moderate. The outdoor-kitchen is very useful and well-equipped. Parking on site or close by. Wifi excellent.

IrelandThe kitchen area was outside which made it very cold (November) but covered over. No hot water to wash dishes and most of the utensils were dirty.
Location was great for the Cares trail hike. The woman was friendly (we used Google translate!). Wifi was great also.

GermanyOur room smelled very weird, it was small, and the walls were quite thin. Kitchen well-equipped and outside but has no oven. For this price it was the cheapest option we could get in las Arenas, but for us considering the price our expectation was not met.
Big and free parking lot, very clean, nice host and good location!
