How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We are given a code to get in! Mine didn’t work 3 times, I was only able to get in because another family arrived at the same time and then I had to wait for another code to get in my room! Over the night I heard the door bell being rung and nobody to answer I went to the door and they were other guests locked out! Their codes didn’t work either! This kind of problem has to be solved! Only reason the hostel didn’t get a 10 from me!
Great location! Lúcia, the lady that received was Bery helpful! Very clean place!

When we got the room at first it was clean. we were there for 4 nights but they didn't clean it after that.
It has an excellent location and the room is big enough.

Rooms are small, it's ok if you just want to sleep there and go out during the day

Nothing wrong actually but i called 5 times on reception number but no one answered and till now its been the other day they didnt replied yet which was very awkward.
Location of the hotel was good and room was clean.

Odd planning and architecture, open bathroom and shower area, barely any space to walk around the room.

The room was small and shower can be seen from the room. The private pin wasnt working so we were sharing the same pin with the other rooms that doesnt feel so secure but we didnt have any issues as well. We had to find a car park because the one they provide was full but it was weekend so parking areas on the street were free to use and we find place any time we need it luckily

There was a problem with the door pins. They wouldn't work and I got locked out of my room at 7 in the morning. I called the emergency number, but nobody answered. It took 2 hours to be able to get back into my room.

Dirty floors, debris in the sheets, mold in shower and the window did not lock. TV was non-functional and was not addressed even after 2 days of query.
Air conditioned, fridgerator in room, some kitchen privileges and private bathroom.

toilet chamber was very small. Please no air fresheners. They stink and are carcinogenic, and a poor replacement for clean.
staff were lovely. place was very clean, comfortable, basic accommodation. Excellent location.

The wifi didn’t work at all in the room, so it was really hard to use internet in the room

Overall good experience, location wise could have been better. Very close to the Sagrada familia, which was nice when visiting but far away from the city center. We visited that by foot but was 40 minutes walking. Metro station was available at +- 8 min walking from the hostel. The neighbourhoud was also a bit shady at night.
The hostel had a very nice price-quality ratio. The room was very clean as well as the bathroom and the whole building. There was coffee and tea to our disposal at any time and some tables to have breakfast if we wanted.

Outdated bathroom , constant smell of the drains , was very unsure when booking if we where going to bebooking the hostel or the hotel room as alot if barcelona is hostels accommodation.
Keyless entry and check in link on your phone was super handy with our late arrival. Good communication on there WhatsApp number as we did message on booking.com app and that was never replied to, but messaging the mobile number was good communication, slight knocking down on one communication mark as when I was confirming that we had our own room with private bathroom they messaged back saying "obviously", to which I found rude as I just wanted to confirm we had booked the right option for us , even the outside says Barcelona City rooms and also hostel signs , we didn't see the hostel part but there seemed to be a fair few rooms to book, slightly outdated but clean and comfy beds , Aircon spot on :) , mini fridge and TV also 😀
