Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The señorita who checked me in & out, and gave me excellent advice/aviso for things like where to get oysters, she was pleasant and professional every time our paths crossed.

United KingdomIt's a traditional building so stairs are steep and there is no lift to the pension. However the host helped me with my suitcase. Noises from the adjoining building was a problem in my first room. However when I brought it to attention, another room was provided which was quiet.
Location was central for transport, shops, beach and Old Town. Euskotren station 7 minutes walk, 15-20 minutes to main rail station, and 10+ minutes to bus station. Room was warm and comfortable with added bonus of small fridge and kettle. Outside on the landing there is a small area with microwave, coffe machine and and some provisions. Bathroom was small but with everything that you would need. Everything was very clean and there was daily cleaning as in a hotel. Both host and cleaner were kind and attentive. It was noticed that I was a tea drinker (I brought my own teabags) and provided milk.

SpainRoom temperature was set on 24c. Air conditioning fan was low even on high setting. Loud family living below with child made it impossible for me to open my interior window.
There is a service center on the 2nd floor equipped with a microwave, toaster and Nespresso machine. €1 for coffee capsules, water & sodas. My bed, pillow and sheets were very comfortable.

BelgiumRoom was tiny, perfect for 1 person, for 2 just very little space to put laguage. Some rooms do not have street window but just inner building chimney. Accentuates klaustrophobic feeling
One of the best deals for San Sebastian. Proximity of train station and beach ( both a couple hundreds meters). Spotlessly clean

United KingdomSadly the courtyard is not a picturesque one but a working area. Still it did allow for ventilation. It looked like there was an air conditioning unit but not switched on at this time The weather was unusually hot (daytime 37C in October) during our visit. Not dislikes but people need to be aware that you need a reasonable level of fitness for the access stairs and the room isn’t really big enough for large suitcases.
The pension is in a perfect location for visiting San Sebastián - next to the town centre, 5 mins walk to the beaches, 15 mins walk from the bus and train stations around the corner from a wonderful cafe. The room was very compact but clean and well organised. Bed was comfortable. There was a small sitting area on the landing where you could get a cup of coffee. We really appreciated that the pension was willing to let us leave luggage there before booking in time and actually had the room ready for us an hour earlier than expected. The welcome at reception was good. The television gave decent access to a wide range of channels. Liked the security system.

IsraelWasn't aware of the high cost in San Sebastian until the moment when looking for accommodation. This hotel is really good but at the same time really small and basic (barely have room for our carry-on luggage). We don't need much when we are travelling, so its not a problem for us. But if you're travelling with big suitcases you might need to think twice.
Very small room but you get everything you need. Spotlessly clean. The location is amazing, within a few minutes walk to the beach, not far from the train/centre bus station and everything you wanna see is near. We were all on foot during the stay. You can hire towels and shades from the counter for going to the beach, I think it's a great addition. The neighbourhood and the street is quiet, recommend it to all light-sleepers
