Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaSmall, very well located hostel, with variety of budget accommodation from double bedroom to single bed room, twin bunkbeds. We chose this hostel as we wanted to be very close to the beachfront, and night bars and tapas restaurants. The receptionist was very helpful with info on bus transport from Biarritz. It's a budget hotel, with no frills but exactly what we wanted.

United StatesThe room was tiny. Including the bathroom, it was smaller than my dorm room in college. There was no ventilation at all. Not in the bathroom even. Ventilation came from opening the window into a small industrial shaft through the center of the building, which was lit and loud, so getting air comfortably while sleeping was impossible. Then there was a pulsing light directly above the bed which could not be shut off, and so pulsed light on me all night.
The host was excellent. Friendly, informative, and timely. The location was also excellent. Very close to the beach and restaurants. There were adequate outlets in the room.

SpainThe rooms condensed but if you ask, they will leave you a dehumidifier that solved the small inconvenience for us.
It has an excellent location a few steps from the Kontxa beach. The rooms are very practical. The facilities are very clean. Mikel and Helena are very attentive and provided us with all the help we needed. Thanks to them we have had a great stay!

United KingdomThere wasn't anything we didn't like. If you like the beach but don't want to pay for beach view prices, this hotel is for you. 2mins walk you can be in the sea.
· Great location for the beach, and a short walk to the Old Town. Could not have asked for anything better for the price paid, it exceeded our expectations. Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks, including cakes and fruit. Really nice and clean room. Fast Wi Fi. Staff are lovely, and went out their way to help us make the most of the city. They even helped us when our bus to Bordeux got cancelled. So welcoming and kind. Will be booking again!

IsraelShower so small I couldn't wash my legs. Room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.
Great location, just ten minutes walk from the old town and three minutes from the beach. Easy check in and check out, no hassle. Friendly staff and bed was pretty comfy.

EcuadorIt was difficult to access the elevator from the ground level with bags, thorough a one floor staircase. It didn’t have a restaurant for breakfast. The rooms where standard, in an apartment floor, with one person receiving you at the door.

FranceThe property was a short walk to the beach and close to the commercial/entertainment centre of town.
Facilities were a bit tired . Cracked wash basin, some black mould. Being on the middle floor of a residential property, the noise from above, and below was intrusive.

AustriaMy room was very small, and its only window was facing a lightwell, which was equipped with water pipes - you could hear the sound of toilets flushing. Since the sound insulation was not very good, there was not a single night where i could sleep through. The rooms facing the lightwell are so near to each other that a light sleeper immidiately wakes up if somebody turns on the light in the other room. I know that one could not expect a grand hotel for this price, but i think even in this price range there are better alternatives.
The location is really close to the beach but yet reachable from the train station and the person working at reception was helpful within reason. You could take fresh fruits at the reception. The price is low for San Sebastian circumstances.

AustriaThe walls are too thin. I heard my neighbor snoring and every word they were saying. This was really annoying. The building has a problem with humidity. When you enter from the street you can immediately smell the moldiness. The room was dark, it's only window lead to a dark, smelly and filthy areaway. The room itself was clean, especially the bathroom, the sheets and the floor. Some other unusual spots in the room could use a little dusting (e.g. lamp above the bed). The shower was very small, I'm slim but hardly managed to scrub every part of my body. The tiles and gaps have seen better days as well. They should be renewed, especially the gaps have had some black spots. The shelf above the sink was askew, so you couldn't put anything on it. It would have slid into the sink. Given that I paid more than 200 euros for 3 nights for this single room (even though San Sebastian is an expensive place to stay), I would have expected more.
Fresh sheets and towels every day. Free fruits and mini-croissants. A coffee machine in the room with 2 coffee pads a day.
