Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainKitchen is ok, outdated and despite the enough amneties (toaster, hot water kettle, microwave, oven etc, it seemed not very clean. Still, San Sebastian is expensive in the summer, so having the use of the kitchen was great added value. They give you small towel per person.
Location is unbeatable, close to the beach, shops, pintxo bars, 15min walk to bus or train station, groceries at the front door. There is an elevator, the pension is in the 1st and 2nd floor. Enough shared bathrooms, my room was quiet because it was looking to inner courtyard. There is a kitchen with many pots and pans to cook a simple meals fridge for the guests and your key is a bracelet to open the main door, kitchen and your room.

AustraliaFoam beds. Not enough kitchen equipment.
The staff were extremely professional and welcoming. Extremely pleased with the location as well. There was a small grocery store next door and lots of options for restaurants. The staff provided recommendations for food - excellent suggestions. My room and the shared bathroom were clean at all times. It is very basic but clean. While it was fairly quiet while we were there, you could hear doors being closed. The bed was not the most comfortable for us as it was made out of foam. But for the money you pay, it is fine (however we went during the film festival so it was expensive along with every other hotel). It is in the old town and a stone throw away from the beach. You are able to prepare food in the kitchen however it would be great to see more kitchen equipment such as plates, cups, glasses etc. plus the kitchen was not as clean as the bathrooms were. From memory there are 9 rooms and at least 4 bathrooms. There could be 5 bathrooms but I definitely counted 4. There was a fan and ceiling fan in our room. No air conditioning. But there was a heater. Didn’t try the heater though. Be great if there was an air conditioner however it is a pension and not a 4 star hotel. Stayed there four nights. For a basic, clean room (rooms are small) with friendly staff, it is fine.

GermanyFrom the backyard (through the window) was always coming a very bad smell from a restaurant, old grease probably. Therefore it was hot even though we used the fans in the room and we had no fresh air in the room.
It was right in the old town, very beautiful. One bathroom only, but it was cleaned every day!

ItalyWe made a reservation for two rooms, but unfortunately, upon arrival, we found them to be quite dirty, with sand scattered around. It seemed that proper cleaning had not been conducted prior to our check-in. The condition of the shared bathrooms was also disappointing, as they were in an unclean state, rendering the showers unusable. Adding to our discomfort, the noise level at the hotel was remarkably high. I was awoken twice during the night due to loud screams from outside, and the noise was so pronounced that it felt as if I were sleeping directly on the street. This overall experience was far from satisfactory, and we hope that these issues can be addressed to enhance the quality of stay for future guests.

AustraliaPretty much everything. It’s dirty, especially the bathrooms and kitchen, the towels are hand towels, it was stuffy in the room with no fresh air and the ceiling fan was tiny and away from the bed meaning we got no relief to sleep. Staff couldn’t care less about the place or the service they provide.
Location is good.

NetherlandsWhen I read the negative reviews about this pension I thought the were too crazy. But in reality they perfectly match my experience. To start with, we were given hand towels for bath towels. We are both quite tall people. Felt like it was a joke. We kindly asked someone there to give us proper ones. They **reluctantly** gave us bigger ones. Then, the bedsheets didn't fit the mattresses. We'd up in the middle of night cold and sleeping directly on the mattress. Secondly, communication with the reception was a joke, to say the least. They may or may not reply to you. It happened our wristbands wouldn't open the door to the corridor, during the first morning, already within reception working times. We were locked outside for almost an hour with all our documents and phones and stuff in the room. After many tries, finally the lock responded and we were able to get inside. Only later we got a reply from the reception with a simple "good morning, glad it worked". The rooms... Oh wow... They do match the pictures but in pictures you can't smell or hear sounds. If you're lucky, your room will smell like fried food the whole day. If you're unlucky, then you'll feel you'll be sleeping in the middle of the party street, because isolation was not part of the construction plan. Oh, and it gets quite damp. The noise is around the clock. Evening and night there's a lot of people passing by (sober or drunk). And in the early morning there are gargabe trucks, delivery trucks, and drunk people making noise. And, of course, some people staying there were drunk as well and making a lot of noise in the corridor. The shower was partially broken, so whoever was showering would always accidentally drop the tap on the floor and wake up whoever was sleeping next door. This place is definitely NOT for older people nor families. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere cheaper, better and quieter 15 min walk away from the old town.
It's well located but please stay way from the old city centre. Terribly noisy

We had a group of 16 come for a culture exchange. The ages were from 16 years old to 30s. It was an amazing time and this place was exactly what we needed! It’s not the Ritz Carlton but it’s perfect for siestas and sleeping! The staff was amazing and extremely accommodating. We will be coming back to Pension Goiko for future groups for sure!
