Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesA little tricky to find (it's down some winding alleyways) but worth the effort. The very gracious, English speaking host treated us to beers after we had some trouble getting in (much appreciated after a long day of cycling). The acommodations were top-notch, and restaurants and a supermarket were nearby.

NetherlandsIt was like 100m walk from the parking spot along the main road. Not too far, but very steep. The front door was very narrow. Take your backpack off before entering.
It was a nice room with a modern bathroom. In the center of the village. The entrance was well arranhed with a lock-box. The room had a small fridge.

United KingdomThe only thing we would have liked is to have stayed longer.
Villa Otivar is in a narrow street in the middle of Otivar inaccessible by car but arrival and departure is made very easy by the owner who whisks you from the free parking to the hotel door in his TukTuk. Once inside we found a well thought out comfortable room with a great view over the surrounding hills from the balcony. The whole room was stylish and immaculate and it was a joy to sleep in such a comfortable bed. On the top floor there is a lovely relaxing terrace and small bar area where we took breakfast, which was extensive and generous. We thoroughly enjoyed it! The owners were kind, friendly and attentive preparing delicious food to suit our tastes. Our only disappointment was that we were only able to stay one night! In short there was nothing about Villa Otivar that we did not like - go if you can!

SpainAs the owners were away there wasn't breakfast available on Sunday. Also the Tuktuk service was unavailable & we found the steep streets hard going.
Villa Otivar is a beautiful building, it has been renovated tastefully in an industrial style & our room was extremely comfortable. Milos rooftop bar is charming. Otivar itself is a friendly village with a few bars & restaurants.

Lovely, contemporary rooms in a traditional building. Although the room wasn’t large, the design was really well thought out and we were very comfortable. Javi the barman was exceptional and couldn’t have been more helpful or generous with his time.

NetherlandsIf the tuck tuck dos not work its a steep climb down the hill in to the village. This climb is not recommended for people that have trouble walking.
Sometimes you just find a hidden gem on Booking.com and this was one of them. We got in contact with the host and after agreeing a pickup time did he pick us up with the electric Tuck Tuck and drove us to the accomodation. This was very enjoyable and we loved the 3 minute ride :). After getting a drink at the bar, did he arrange the check-in and even put our luggage in our room. Again fantastic service and a very friendly talkative host. We preferred this a lot more, then all the self-check ins. Once we got in the room, it was spacious and beautiful. The decorations, the walk-in shower, the windows that can fully open, it was our taste. Beside that, everything was clean and comfortable. The host then provided us with details on where to eat and gave advise on what to do in the surroundings. For us everything was perfect! Thank you very much Dave and Paula. If we ever visit Andalusia again, we will definitely stay at Villa Otivar again.

United KingdomNothing.
Great communication from the host. Dave kindly booked lunch and preordered for us at a local restaurant. Dave picked us and our luggage up in a Tuk Tuk. The streets are very narrow and not accessible by car. You will have to leave your car on the Main Street. We were given a warm welcome and a refreshing beer at the lovely rooftop bar. Our room was lovely. Nicely decorated and with everything you need including bathrobes. Great views to the mountains. The bed was super comfy. There is also a kettle with teas and coffees. Plenty of hot water in the bathroom and a great shower. Dave drove us up the hill to the restaurant - El Capricho - in the Tuk Tuk- super fun! The roast chicken with apple was fantastic! In the evening we enjoyed sitting in the bar, where the drinks came with tapas. Try the Mojito. It was scrummy. The host is super friendly and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Villa Otivar or to stay again.

NetherlandsThe groundfloor room is a little bit noisy. I recommend to use earplugs. The shower is half open wich causes a waterballet. 2 couples asked us the way to this B&B…I recommend to use your google maps. According to Spanish standards this B&B is a little bit expensive.
We stayed just one night. It’s a bit hard to find. Google maps helped us. You have to park your car outside the village centre. If you call the Canadian owner he will drive you with your luggage with his TukTuk. The B&B is located in renovated house in a typical moorish village. It’s organized like a maze to defend it better back in the days. You get a warm welcome from the owners. They invited us for a drink on the rooftop where a bar/restaurant is. We got a room on the ground floor. It was very clean and for us it was big enough. We had nice hike in the area, rio verde. The country side is beautiful, but like most Spanish villages in the country it’s very very quiet. We had a good meal in Restaurante Buenavista. We paid for breakfast but, due to communication problems we did not had a breakfast in the B&B We had our breakfast in Buenavista. The owner insists to pay out breakfast, wich was very kind. He brought us later with our luggage to our car.

This place is wonderful - situated in the mazy streets of Otivar, and with views across the valley. Stylish rooms with everything thought of, and narrow but fully functional and very sunny balconies! Good breakfast set up too. Paula and Dave are very friendly and accommodating and complete the package. Dave gave me some entertaining rides up the hill in his TukTuk - a vehicle which seems to have the side streets of Otivar all to itself.
