Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis was a nostalgia visit because I stayed here in the seventies and eighties (although I have also stayed here a few times later than that). I miss the White Room and the Red Room. Room 322 in the original building is showing its age (a piece of wooden flooring kept dislodging and there were some quite deep scratches on furniture).
The reception staff were brilliant. The view from the room in the original building was beautiful, Breakfast was excellent. Kalastajatorppa is my favourite hotel in Helsinki.

FinlandThe hotel is in a great location on a high cliff by the sea. The surroundings have parks, nature and a tennis court. The area is also the safest in Helsinki. The President of the Republic of Finland lives nearby, i.e. only about 500 meters away. I recommend the hotel and the area to people who also value safety. And on the street you can see and talk to the President of the Republic of Finland.

CanadaThe swimming pool was plain. Maybe it's better in summer and during the day when you have a better view. The saunas are in the changerooms, so not great for a couple experience. Pretty bad for a top hotel like Hilton. There's not much to do in this area either. Pretty isolated. The mini bar was there but the drinks were not free. They were also very overpriced, so we walked to supermarkets instead to get the same drinks for 1/4th of Hilton prices.
The sea view was great. And seeing fireworks from far all around at the edges of the frozen lake on new yrs eve/new yrs. Bed was extremely comfortable and the 4 body pillows. Room was great. Breakfast was good with enough variety, but the service for breakfast was top notch!

IrelandWe stayed there for christmas and unfortunatly we did not eat any of the food that was offered in the restaurant on christmas day as it was a buffet of local Finnish foods. There was a great choice of food but not good for what my family and I would eat being Irish.
Rooms are modern and plenty of space. Swimming pool and sauna was great with towels provided. Breakfast buffet has plenty of options although abit expensive. Location is perfect for visiting Senete square cathedral and christmas market.

HungarySauna and welness were deception, small sauna for such a huge hotel and the pool was also very small, a dozen people in the swimming pool and there was no space to swim. Maybe we have other imagination about finnish sauna, that wasnt. The location is rather beautiful but far from the center.
Breakfast was abundant, all kind of food have been found. The staff was very polite but the morning shift was very charged by different demands of guests and one person had to solve all of them.

South AfricaWe stayed over the weekend and enjoyed the IGLUX right on the water. If was magical and very relaxing - we even spent the night in the igloo! The combined room and igloo experience meant that we did not have to give up any creature comfort, and could enjoy a bath and hot shower during our stay. Dinner at Meritorppa was delicious as was the hotel breakfast, which has a great selection of both hot and cold items.

EstoniaMy room did not have balcony although I filtered from Booking.com hotels with balcony. Later came out that I had to ask room with balcony specially. Pets were welcome but there there was extra fee 30 euros for my 2,2 kg pet. There was only 20 TV channels and picture quality was not the best. Coffee from lobby machine was 3 euros and room service fee was 15 euros.
Nice place, nice people.

FinlandThe sondproofing is quite bad - to the hallways that is. It's almost if the door is not there. So you wake up to any noise from the hallway or have difficulties going to sleep if there is still traffic in the hallways.
Returning customer, so I'm more or less pleased with the place. :) Nicely close but yet detached from the busy city. You can downshift from a hectic day here easily. Good by-the-sea restaurant with classy menus. Breakfast was filled with various options for everyone.

GermanyThe indoor swimming pool is rather modest. The "private beach" of the hotel is not nearly as nice as the public one next to it, but perhaps it is better that way as hotel guests could use the public one but not the other way around.
The hotel is beautifully located with a view over the start of the archipelago outside Helsinki. The hotel has architectural value, character and an impressive history of dignitaries having visited, which makes it interesting. The restaurant where we had dinner is pricey, but the quality of both the food and the service matched the price. The waiters are international professionals. There is a relatively large number of free outdoor parking spaces, though the hotel also has a (paid) underground garage. The airport is only some 15-20 minutes away by car. The hotel is not in the centre of Helsinki, and we really liked the location, but for somebody planning to explore Helsinki it is not a first choice.
