How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Even for a solo traveller found the room very very tiny. Not sound proof as I could hear people next door. Communication via booking.com very slow.
Location close to the beach and the centre.

Room very small. Site photos were not the reality. Car parking expensive at €25 for overnight stay. Overall: Expensive for an out of season stay.
Location was walking distance to the beach walk/promenade, market, shops. Staff welcome was great. Breakfast was good.

The hotel decor is looking tired. The bed was ok but quite hard. Our bathroom was a wet room and the side showerhead didn't work, leaving only the overhead shower. this lead to a very wet bathroom
Great staff and service. Most spoke English Value for money. It was very cold when we were there but fortunately there was a heater in our room. Good location. Easy walk to shops, restaurants and the beach

All impressive for v reasonable price
Friendly, welcoming staff. Comfortable, cosy (but not small!) well-planned room with everything we needed. Quiet yet easy walking distance to town.

Would have be nice to have some basics (like oil, salt, etc) for cooking
Very well arranged flat, spacious for 2 couples with babies. Nice terrace and equipped kitchen. Great location closed to the center and the beach.

Parking area was too small, had to find alternatives. The air conditioning filters need maintenance
The location was excellent, near the center but in a quieter area. Fresh and friendly decoration, friendly staff, good breakfast.

When we got in, we were assigned a room that smells from mold, when we complained, we got another room smelling from mold The third time we complained, we were told that there it nothing else she can give us at the same price and we will have to add money. Only when we said we are not adding anything, did she talk to the manager and they gave us the better room, which at last was just fine and spacious enough and was not smelling
It was cute, and eventually we did have a nice Room It Biarritz is beautiful with beautiful architecture

The property overall was clean however I don't think our room was cleaned thoroughly enough (there were a pair of socks from the last guest). When we walked in it didn't appear to be unclean but seeing the socks under the bed gave us pause.
The staff at this property were incredible. Pascal on the overnight and there was another woman (apologies as I didn't get her name) but had some piercings who was superb. Location was great, a little removed from the center which was a nice reprieve from the bustle of the center. Property seems to have been recently renovated. Had the express breakfast which was simple but nice.

Car park was 25 euros and not 15 euros as stated in the booking confirmation. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful in all other matters but would not honour the 15 euros quoted... no big deal, just a bit annoying.
Large room with a nice little balcony. Very clean and recently refurbished. Huge and very nice shower. Whole vibe throughout hotel very modern/stylish with art work and fittings/furnishings. Staff friendly and helpful.

Our Classic Queen room was a little small. Tea and coffee not replenished.
