Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo clear signs to direct to the hotel and parking. No wardrobe in the room to hang the outfits we had brought for attending a wedding.
Beautiful location in a picturesque Normandy village in the forest. Excellent breakfast. The restaurant is attached, offering excellent food but quite expensive.

United StatesThe swimming pool was tiny and the water too cold for a December visit.
The room was quiet and clean. Loved the hamman, sauna and massage at the Nuxe Spa. Food at the bistro was very good. Breakfast was splendid, fresh food every morning. Exceptional service from Julie and Simon. Will return.

United KingdomBigger room & being able to make cup of tea or have coffee with milk.
It was a very tiny attic room which on an incredibly hot day was suffocatingly hot, we were kindly given a fan but it just circulated hot air 🥵🥵 No kettle, teabags or milk so no facilities to make tea.

United KingdomThe spa was a bit of a jaunt from our room which wasn't ideal having to walk in the rain to get to the building, but that really wasn't a big issue. What was disappointing was that the pool and hot tub were luke warm so not enjoyable to stay in for very long. Further, there weren't enough lounge chairs on the busy weekend whilst it was raining but to be fair to the hotel, I am not sure where they could squeeze more in apart from maybe the next room; and the many outside in the rain that were provided were unusable through no fault of theirs. It was a lovely facility but could be a bit better with heated water. The other slight downside was that we arrived on a Wednesday and it was difficult to find anywhere in the town that still served food later on. But, that was a small hiccup for such a beautiful spot and we did manage to nip to The Lounge for a light bite having looked around the town and asked about. Also, we rented bikes from the little shop on the square 30 seconds walk from the hotel; a wonderful owners set us up with electric bikes and we had a great 20km explore of the area including some resistance memorials, past rivers, fields, and forests; we couldn't have had a better morning.
We loved this location. It is in a beautiful town, forest and fields surrounding it, and it wasn't too far from towns and amenities. The staff were lovely and breakfasts really enjoyable with fresh cheese and bread. The room was very comfortable and the massive bath a bonus, although we would have liked a shower on the morning that we were leaving so that was a downside. The hotel has been done up very sympathetically to the original structure which we loved. The town is quiet at night so we had peaceful rest.

BelgiumIt was a bit confusing for us: Hotel du Grand Cerf is combined with another hotel down the street, Licorne. The breakfast as well as pool, spa and parking, are at the OTHER hotel.
It's a beautifully decorated hotel, in a beautifully restored old building. The room was small but comfortable, with a good bathroom and comfy bed. There's a spa and outside pool available as well as private parking. Lyons-la-Foret is a very cute town!

United KingdomThere were no staff around when we went to use the pool at our booked time, and we were unable to find any towels to use. The breakfast was ok although the room lacked any atmosphere on our first morning no staff appeared to greet us or any of the other guests for the first 5 mins when the lady did appear it was brief and she did not want to engage with the guests, which was a shame.
The check in staff were very nice Our room was lovely and as requested in a quiet location . We ate in the Bistro which was fabulous and Abdul was excellent in advising us on the dishes and wine his cheerful personality made the evening special. The hotel is situated in a delightful village.

United KingdomReception is at the sister hotel along the street, which is fine, but arriving at a hotel which looks closed then finding the other hotel isn’t ideal after a long day. The restaurant+bistro are pretty expensive, but can’t comment on the food, seeing the menu price was enough. The bathroom sink was cracked, window blinds were dusty.
Nice room, very comfy bed. Breakfast was ok. Parking a motorbike on the area behind the hotel better than the gravel at the sister hotel. The receptionist was great, very helpful and came to find me when I arrived. Didn’t get time/chance to try the spa/pool unfortunately.
