Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyOur room had carpet which was pretty stained and there were also some stains on the wallpaper, so the room did not seem the cleanest. We also did not have a shower curtain, so it was a bit challenging not to flood the entire bathroom.
The location was great with just a short walk to most of the main sights. The free parking was super handy. Check-In and Check-Out were super quick and uncomplicated and the staff friendly and helpful.

SpainWe parked in the theatre parking and when we got to the hotel we were told the fre parking was elsewhere. So we had to pay for the parking. The sink in the bathroom was blocked.

United KingdomThe hotel was quite shabby looking and the bathroom in particular was very outdated although the shower was good. We had a separate toilet with a big hole in the skirting board stuffed with newspaper.
Room was a good size and the bed was comfortable.

AustraliaNo issues with cleanliness - worth noting interior is dated and a little dark (including the bathroom).
Spacious room. Perfect for a short term stay in Metz - walking distance to the cathedral and food/drink options. Staff were friendly on arrival and check out. Convenient free car park next to the hotel - easy to access but tighter for larger cars.

BelgiumMy room was in front to te street. It was quite noisy at night. Next time I ask for a room behind.
The hotel is quite nice and comfortable. Public parking is dirty so are the apartment block. With a little care it would be a nice area for both the inhabitants and tourists. The Restaurant El Theatre is just around the corner with fantastic French cuisine and very good service.

United KingdomCleanliness is definitely an issue and it was an adventure going from the parking lift to the hotel! Like all the reviewers have said- it needs some serious updating. But besides that the location is fantastic for a one day visit and it served us well. The beds were clean and comfortable and we had a good nights sleep, despite all the noise of the cars from the street.
The location is fantastic and there is free parking in the hotel.

ItalyThe carpets looked old an threadbare. This gave the rooms and corridors a look of uncleanliness, although they were probably clean. The open area to the back of the hotel was dirty and certainly uninviting. More could be done to clean up or refresh the immediate surrounds of the building.
The property has a vintage look to it, which adds to its charm. Antique furniture was even labelled. It is also in an extremely convenient location for visiting the city.

United KingdomUnfortunately parking was not free due to height of our car with a top box and the public car park was free overnight but not during the day. We were advised that it was free all day. However, the parking charges were reasonable compared to other places we visited in Europe.
The location was very good for walking into the town.

NetherlandsThe hotel could use a serious face lift to restore it to its former glory. Room facing the street was noisy with the window open, no AC so no other option during summer (perhaps a fan would help).
Great location, good value for money, free parking in a city with limited parking space. Staff were really friendly. Room was clean.

NetherlandsCan’t think of anything, really. No hairdryer maybe?
I read sime bad reviews so was prepared for the worst. But it was actually a very nice and special place. Yes some humidity stains here and there. But the nice atmosphere, the location made up for a lot. And the soecially located pool was quite cold but you don’t feel that after 20 seconds. And from then on it’s pure joy.

BelgiumIt’s an old building and the smell in the corridor was unpleasant. There is a swimming pool which seemed well kept but we were not tempted to go in because of the odour of the river just next to it and kind of uncosy/dirty looking square
