Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Beautiful location! Lovely old fashioned style hotel. Great restaurant, a bit expensive, but worth it for the view and the food.

United StatesThe view from our room faced the city and not the valley. Street parking was challenging, especially on market day; we ended up having to park a few blocks away from the hotel each day. Driving on the streets of Domme, even in a small car, was challenging.
The location of the hotel was fantastic; the hotel is located right in the heart of Domme. The views from the porch were stunning.

The location was perfect for us and the courtyard is a beautiful, restful space away from a busy city. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

United KingdomCheck in process a bit slow-not enough staff. Rooms need a significant upgrade to justify the price-dated bathroom, wheezy inefficient air conditioning. No tea or coffee making facilities Not even able to have access to an iron or ironing board via reception
Fabulous location-I think you pay for the view in the room rate. Food was excellent. Friendly staff

United KingdomIT was difficult ot find in a car, and the lady on reception didn't know the road names in the town. Still, we found it with not too much trouble..
Fantastic location, perched on the escarpment overlooking the Dordogne valley. Short walk to the amenities of the town, including the Grotto. Well worth a visit!

United KingdomThe only minor thing is that I would have liked an egg for breakfast. Their breakfast is typical French with bread, croissant, butter and jam, which is ok of course. So not really a complaint, just a personal preference.
You couldn’t find a better location! The views from the terrace and restaurant are magnificent. It has a very romantic atmosphere! The interior restaurant was also very nice, though sadly the kitchen was closed on the day we were there, so couldn’t enjoy the beautiful surrounds in there. Staff was also wonderfully friendly and helpful. It felt very homely.

United StatesBathtub was narrow and unusable with no shower curtain. Breakfast was overpriced for coffee and croissants so, we didn't eat dinner at the restaurant. An electric kettles would've been appreciated but they're uncommon in France.
Lovely location with the best view in the Dordogne, of the Dordogne. Sweet terrace overlook. Easy free street parking in April. Market on Thursday with 1E coffee. Very helpful staff. Room was a very good value.

United StatesOur attic room was atmospheric but a bit dark - higher wattage bulbs would have helped enormously. The WiFi was spotty up there. This time of year bar service was difficult, as the family is stretched thin. But nothing spoiled our wonderful five days there, and we would (and will!) go back in a heartbeat.
l'Esplanade commands the best view in Domme, with stunning vistas from the rooms, restaurant and terrace cafe tables. It is family owned and operated from the exemplary chef to the warm reception by his wife and daughter. The restaurant is not open every night this time of year, but is outstanding. Parking was surprisingly easy nearby, and the breakfast was simple but fresh. A village bistro offers excellent food as an alternative when the restaurant is closed, and outstanding chateaux, caves, and restaurants are nearby. A wonderful base for our five days.

BelgiumBe warned that there is no lift - not a problem for us but important to know. One negative point: breakfast was good BUT no salty food at all. Even a small piece of cheese (not even mentioning charcuterie or eggs!) would have been appreciated - I bought mine from the supermarket.
Great hotel in the superb village of Domme, magnificent view of the Dordogne, the photos do not lie! Nice terrasse to have meals. Comfortable bed, air conditioning. No parking, but easy to find (free) parking places in the streets around. We received good tips of very nice restaurants in the village, for days when the one of the hotel was closed.
