How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A very comfortable and welcoming Gite. Based in the centre of Argentiere, perfectly located for the ski centre and restaurants. A fair price for a simple but acceptable accommodation.

Super good value for money. The rooms are quiet old but beds were still comfortable and bath room + toilet were very clean. All in all, it was perfect for our short stay in Chamonix. The breakfast was also fine, there was Conflakes, Bread, Croissants, Marmelade, Eggs, etc. All good!

Just the room is not quite soundproof. Except that, everything is very good!
We just simply called the host. He came over and introduced the room, services, and relevant information. He was very hospitable!

Not sure why they do the push button in the shower. So you need to push it every minute in order to have water. But we could live with it…its just weird.
A one man operated hotel. Quite old with this squeaky wooden floor. The owner was extremely nice and helpful person!

Limited number of power outlets in the shared bedrooms.
The hostel is close to a Chamonix bus stop and close to a major Ski area. The style is rustic but very well maintained. The facilities are in good condition and the wireless worked well. Staff is very friendly. Supermarket and bistros in the neighbourhood. Many trailheads in the neighbourhood in walking distance or reachable by Chamonix bus. Good breakfast.

The room that we stayed in was getting noise from outside and inside the hotel. Windows were closed and we still didn’t manage to have a good night sleep due to noise from cars passing by on the main street or some noise coming from another rooms. Need a really good investment in soundproof solution.
Location plus the owner is a really nice guy, very helpful 💪

Walls are a bit thin so some noise came through early in the morning.
Nice and clean room, communal lounge / living room looked very cozy, very kind and helpful owner; great value for money!

Bunk beds could have some barriers for safety. Breakfast could have been better - some warm meal or cold plate.
Room and sanitary facilities were clean, the welcome was very nice, the host is friendly and helpful, common room looks cozy. The place is a bit outside of Chamonix, but close enough to get there coveniently.

Ben, the host, was cheerful. The common space was clean and comfortable with a few couches out outlets and some books. The room was spacious. When a friend decided to join me at the last minute Ben changed the configuation of the room from one to two beds very quickly. Room was very clean and very functional, with a book case/shelf for hiking gear, outlets by the bed, large bathroom. A great place for the first night of the TMB or the Haute Route.

Ski boots got stolen from the hotel ski room. We asked the hotel manager to help file a police report but did not receive any support. Have not received compensation for the theft.
Good location, close to bus stop and easy access to ski lifts.

The host, Ben, is the best host I've ever met. He's helpful, very friendly and explained everything at the beginning. We will definitely come back to this place. This time we slept in dorms and everything was clean and prepared in advance. If you don't need to stay in the center of Chamonix, this location is perfect. Far enough from crowds, but close to the bakery, groceries, and trails.
