Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandPaper thin walls and Food Poisoning are two big reasons not to like a place. Things can go wrong for sure, but the mark of any establishment is in how they handle the issue that has arisen. In good establishments, the guest needs not wonder or worry that the matter will be handled. Unfortunately, this was not such a place. A fundamental rule of hotel rooms is that you should not be able to hear the guests in adjoining rooms - let alone hear every word, movement, phone message beep, every plugging into sockets, their taps, running water, toilet flushes; the list is endless. I might as well have been in room with the couple next door. As soon as this became apparent I went down to reception to request a change of room. The sea view was nice, but not worth the lack of privacy. On my way down, I met a family at the elevator that looked like they had just checked in. I arrived at the reception desk within one minute to find it closed, with no bell or way of contacting anyone. I went back to my room and emailed the hotel requesting a change of room. This was met with silence. I cast open my window to allow the sound of the sea drown out the noise from next door. I eventually drifted off to sleep, but awoken soon after with that dreaded feeling. You just know when your food is not settling, and there's something up. Indeed there was. After two hours of nausea and throwing up I began to feel sorry for my neighbours at having to hear all of this. The sickness continued until all food had been expelled - and knowing my own body, this only happens to me when I have eaten something that is contaminated. The next morning when I approached the reception desk to discuss these matters. The owner/manage did everything to ignore and dismiss my concerns, but it was the gaslighting that really got to me. Sure of course it was an excess of wine that made me sick (as he so judiciously asserted) - how silly of me to think it might be the food!
At first, when I arrived, I thought I had found a little gem. The property is in a great location, and had a lift. I was delighted to go for a swim in the little hot tub pool - which although small, was nonetheless adequate. My booking was for a sea view room, with a single bed. I got into the room, and indeed the bed was only a 3ft single. I had no problem with that, and noticed that the room was a little tight on space, but the 3ft bed was adequate, and as it had been advertised as a single, I had no complaint. There was a great view from the room. I read the menu and looked forward to dinner after a swim, The menu looked comprehensive enough, and at a good price point, so much so that I didn't even check out alternative eateries for the night. I took my seat in the restaurant, took Celine's recommendation on wine, ordered my food; it tasted fine, was served with a smile and all round was very pleasant. I drank two glasses from the bottle of wine over the complete dinner (my usual)...and took the remaining half bottle with me for the following evening. That was the best bit...unfortunately the experience went downhill from there, in a manner which was absolutely unnecessary, and could have been remedied that night and the next morning. But the response of the manager (perhaps owner) left an awful lot to be desired. His attitude was horrifically negative, and lack of professionalism was evident in his whole handling of the situation. You just know you're going to get nowhere when you try to engage with someone who backs up his chair, suddenly forgets his English, keeps his eyes focused on the computer screen and shrugs his shoulders in dismissing your every issue.

FranceWe were not given the room we had booked. It is a reputable hotel restaurant for seafood and gastronomic food, the food was not good for the amount we were being charged also my husbands fillet steak was burn and well done. The breakfast was a joke.
The access to the beach.

United KingdomMy shower was blocked and water was close to spilling out onto the floor. The breakfast was not really good value for money. The steak the night before was a bit tough I think they used what we would call sirloin. Not the best.
