Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe arrived at 14:50 literally ten minutes before check in. The guy at reception was adamant we couldn’t check in and seemed a bit abrupt about it, I don’t think he was rude but to us English it can seem that way. We got drinks and sat outside. We just thought for the sake of ten minutes that was a bit rigid. The first room we were given had an awful drainage smell but luckily they moved us and the second room was perfect. Clean and a very comfortable bed. You can’t get any drinks after 8pm that’s when the reception closes so there’s no hotel bar in the evening I’d recommend bringing your own if you want a late night tipple, there’s plenty of seating areas.
It’s a lovely hotel, nice pool area although it was unseasonably cold for August so we didn’t use the pool. Breakfast was good. Location is perfect for a base whilst touring the Island. There’s only one bar in the square about a 5-10 minute walk away which served drinks a bit later luckily because otherwise it’s a very quiet place.

IrelandNothing to do with the hotel but it's good to be mindful of about staying in a quiet place at a quieter time of year as we were there in September so it was slowing down on the island and as we didn't have a car we were limted with nearby dining options with places closing early. It would have been great to have a fan in the room as it was warm.
Excellent staff - the receptionist was very helpful and friendly, he really made us feel very welcome and gave us good advice. The breakfast was good and the setting is lovely with a nice pool. It was also really handy being able to rent bikes directly from the accomodation.

United KingdomWe were lucky, the weather was good, but there were very few inside facilities, breakfast would have been a squeeze if it was raining and the bar and reception close early evening so nowhere to sit or buy a drink in the evening, only our room which was not big enough to sit comfortably
Nice atmosphere, quiet, pretty location All very clean and staff were helpful

United KingdomThere was no hanging space for clothes in the room so we had to "live out of the suitcase." This might be OK for a short stay like ours but would be a bit tiresome for a longer stay.
The hotel owner was extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. The rooms were spread through different buildings, with gardens and seating areas. The pool was well used by other residents and seemed popular. It was just a short walk to St Marie village, with a couple of good restaurants and a little further to the beach. Plenty of parking. Good selection of buffet style breakfast.

FranceMy only criticism was that the 2 chairs outside our room were far too low for us oldies to use.
Lovely pretty hotel with a car park, nice pool and plenty of sun beds. No restaurant but a bar where you can order drinks. Lots of outdoor tables and chairs in a beautiful garden setting. We were in room 7 on the ground floor right next to the car park (easy access), the room was comfortable with a large double bed and a single. No air con but we didn't need it. There's a door to the patio/swimming pool area and large sliding windows. The shower was big and there was plenty of hot water. The wifi was a bit temperamental but I think that we might have been at the limit of the range. An easy short stroll to a square with a few restaurants and a takeaway pizza place. Even though not high season it was busy and it might be advisable to book - even the pizza place. We brought ours back to eat in the hotel garden. Very nice it was too!

United KingdomThe room was a little small with 2 dogs and though it was ground floor the terrace wasn’t self contained. However my two dogs were well behaved and we could lie on the sun beds just in front of our terrace and we did manage to relax as they slept in shade. Luckily we brought a fan with us otherwise we would have found the room very hot. When you pay for dogs it is nice when hotels provide some goodies, bowls or a bed for them.
Location was really nice - quiet but easy walking distance to a lovely square with restaurants shops and a small market.

United StatesThe host was a bit crabby and we were tired. The next day was much better. The location is excellent for walking to a restaurant and bakery and well as shopping for food.
We arrived and found that our room wasn't set up for 3 separate beds as we had asked for...we pulled out the trundle from the twin and slept as we wished. The next day they fixed it properly.

FranceWe had a very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was very good and varied and the pool area was lovely and relaxing. The room was tastefully decorated and we had a balcony overlooking the pool. Sainte-Marie is much smaller and quieter than Saint Martin so it was nice to see both.

United KingdomLived the hotel, the room was slightly small for 3.
The hotel is lovely and quiet, surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers. It has a lovely courtyard where you can eat breakfast. Nice small pool. We stayed here after a week at Le Bois as a ‘top up’ to our holiday and before we got on a plane back to England. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful. They accommodated us allowing us to store our luggage all day, have a shower etc at the end of the day after we had already checked out. They were really friendly and sweet with our little girl. The breakfast is top quality. Homemade jams, crepes, lots of different choices and all really fresh- by far the best we have had in a hotel for many years! Thanks so much for a great stay!
