Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe stayed on a Monday so the reception wasn’t open ( we picked our room key up from a key safe by the front door) and the restaurant was closed which meant we felt a bit detached from our stay. We have stayed on a different night before and the restaurant is excellent and staff very friendly.
The room was very nicely decorated and comfortable with a spacious en suite with an amazing looking spa bath which we didn’t have time to use.

United KingdomNot a problem but the hotel was closed on Monday when we arrived so picked our room key up from a key safe by the front door. The restaurant was closed so there was no communal area to sit. We drove to Langeais to a restaurant recommended by the hotel which was excellent. We have eaten in the hotel restaurant when it is open and that is also excellent.
Lovely bedroom with comfortable bed.

United KingdomNothing of any particular note.
The hotel was well located for our visit to Tours and the surrounding area. The meals were very well prepared and excellent to eat. The hotel staff were very attentive to the needs of their residents.

Netherlandswe had to walk up a steep path to access the rooms. so be aware of this if you have challenges walking up and down steep paths, stairs. The ladder to access the beds in the mezzanine is very steep and quite high. There was no parking space in the street in front of the hotel. we parked on a parking place further away in a kind of park.
Great atmosphere in this very typical village and hotel. The rooms were very unconventional, with a mezzanine which gives a lot of character to them. The breakfast was good and definitely excellent value for money.

United KingdomA bit noisy at night. Bathroom a little cramped - no room by the sink for sponge bags. Nothing to see in the town. Breakfast was good. Dinner menu quite upscale. No choices of salads or vegetable dishes.
Restaurant on site. We were able to park on the street outside.

United KingdomOriginally booked the hotel to sample the gourmand menu, only to be emailed a couple of days before arrival to say the restaurant was going to be closed due to a "holiday". It transpired that as all the restaurants in Luynes are closed on a Monday, we had to drive elsewhere. Had we been informed earlier, we would have arranged to stay the following day.
Beautifully refurbished boutique hotel in the centre of town with a great breakfast.

CanadaParking can be a challenge on street. Also a free parking lot opposite the hotel, but if you're patient usually there are a few spots available after people have been to the patisserie next door
A very nice hotel centrally located in Luynes. Easy walking distance to several places of interest.

NetherlandsNo personal check-in. There was nobody at the hotel. We knew the restaurant on a sunday was closed but also all the other restaurants in the neighbourhood were closed. Luckely there is a Kebab only 50m from the hotel. We would rate 5 stars if there was a way to have something to eat.
Very nice location. Clean and modern rooms.

United KingdomThe access to the bedrooms was up a very steep path. This could prove to be a problem for those with mobility issues.
The evening meal at the restaurant was excellent at a very reasonable price. .The breakfast was quite good but there was a very limited choice available. The welcome and service was friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this hotel.

It was a real pleasure after weeks, by bike, to have a good continental breakfast. We enjoyed it. The room and large bed did meet our expectations. Staff in the restaurant is good (spoke enough English to help us out with a few French language issues!). They are really service oriented.

New ZealandDespite being careful to fill the spa bath above the water spouts, it still squirted water up and out of the bath. Be very careful if you choose to use it.
Beautiful room and great location in gorgeous village. Lovely staff. Quiet and clean. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was the best we've ever had in France. Would love to go back.

United KingdomAccess to bedroom a major issue. No indication that access was outside, up a steep set of steps, then a tarmac slope and a wooden bridge. This is a restaurant with 10 rooms. Sunday arrival it was closed, key left in secure box. Monday Restaurant was closed. This only became apparent after making the booking. Photos show the issues we had. Description of hotel far from accurate, in fact misleading.
Rustic appearance.

United KingdomOne minor point, which we had already addressed in advance, but it would be good to have tea/coffee making facilities and bottled water in the bedroom. Also, Wi-Fi is intermittent.
Set in a beautiful little village near the Loire, Le XII is a fantastic boutique hotel. The bedroom wasn’t huge but light, airy, exceptionally clean with a very comfortable larger bed. The bathroom was large and immaculately appointed. We ate in the restaurant. What a truly elegant experience. The food was creative and different - not huge portions but delicious. The maitre d’ was extremely welcoming and attentive without being overly obtrusive; the wine waiter treated his job as an art and is a real asset; the young waitress was also exceptionally well versed in her role. What an absolutely delightful evening.
