Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandWould like tea making in the bedroom but we were allowed to make tea in the main kitchen which was nice of the hotel . The room was a bit too small for two people but I expect it is Paris and all rooms are small in most hotels .
The location was good for what we wanted and the room was clean .

United KingdomThe decor was very dark, it felt a bit gloomy.
Clean, quiet, well-equipped room, although small (but adequate for one person, which is what I needed). Good sound insulation and blackout curtains. A lightbulb needed replacing, and this was done quickly. The staff were friendly and helpful.

SwitzerlandWe can hear a bit of too much noise from the boulevard. Also it’s a bit of a struggle to get proper warm water in the shower.
Exceptional personal. I was upgraded from single to double room. The breakfast room is very well decorated. Super clean.

ArmeniaHair found in different spots in the room, including on the bed, different stains in the bathroom, overall, felt dusty and not so clean in the room, room size was ok for 1 person
The staff at the reception, free tea/coffee available during the day, changed towels every day, close to metro stations for 2 different lines, check-in and check-out was just to take or to retun the key 😀

TurkeyWe have 3 main notes for the place: it was a shock that the room doesn't have bathroom slippers therefore we had to walk with our boots everywhere. If we knew, we would bring a pair. Secondly there was no minibar (mini fridge) so we had to finish what we brought to our room. Lastly there was a strange odor in the shower. Apart from these, it was cool. We may consider to come again. See you Paris!
Lovely place, friendly staff. It was open 24/7 which was cool and they even helped us open our wine bottles whenever we asked.

GermanyWe stayed for NYE in Saint Marcel Hotel. The price at that time (just as everywhere else in Paris) was quite high, but its ok. The only thing which was not that good, was that the fitness area was under construction during our stay. However, my girlfriend was offered an empty room (no bed, nothing inside) to do some stretching and sports in the morning, so it worked out :)
The rooms are quite small but the Hotel is still super nice! The staff is very welcoming and helps you if you have any questions. The bathroom has an elegant design but is also quite small (not ideal for big people, but it worked perfectly for me and my girlfriend). In the direct neighbourhood you can find everything you need. Total recommendation.

AustraliaLike all accommodation in Paris, it was relatively expensive. Also no refrigerator in the room. Apparently normal in France.
We upgraded (at significant cost) to the largest room available but it was still relatively small. This is regarded as normal in Paris. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. The location was fantastic. Easy walk to restaurants, the Latin Quarter and the Siene River. Close to public transport.

United StatesThe room was much smaller than expected (for the price) however with the small "desk" under the tv, the shelving on either side of the bed and the space under the bed to shove luggage and shoes, the two of us managed fine. It looked like they did have slightly larger rooms, but not sure how much larger. It was Rugby World Cup so not sure if prices are normal or were a bit higher for the event.
The location of the hotel was great. If coming in from the airport on the RER with luggage, it is easier to hop off at Port Royal and take the 91 bus which goes directly in front of the hotel. Otherwise there are 3 metro lines nearby, but you have to deal with steps. The hotel was very comfortable and clean and quieter than I anticipated. We did not take breakfast or use the gym so I cannot comment. You could get pastry, coffee, & juice at nearby brasseires for under 9 euros but if the you can get more than one coffee at the hotel then the 13 euros is comparable. Convenient to walk many places.
