Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandThe only disappointment was the actual room. We booked the Premium category, but the room didn't look at all as displayed
I introduced this beautiful region to my wife and a befriended couple from Denmark and decided to book a 2 nights weekend getaway at the Hotel Val Vignes in St. Hippolyte. The hotel itself is beautiful and so is the location. The service of the frontdesk team and all the employees we encountered is magnificent. We enjoyed every interaction with them. Beeing it pre- and afterdinner drinks, bike rental, wine storage; everything was great, and as mentioned, the staff is superb. The only disappointment was the actual room. We booked the Premium category, but the room didn't look at all as displayed. We had a parking view and the room was just OK. A bummer as it didn't match the overall wonderful experience we encountered at this exceptional hotel. Also, the room cleaning was not up to standard. Dirty towels (we put on the floor) were taken but not exchanged. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel, but we would ensure we will get an appropriate room per booked category when visiting again.

SwitzerlandThere is no mini refrigerator in the room. The restaurant is closed on Sundays. The decoration in the room is a little old fashioned. Some might urge though that it fits the style on the hotel.
People were very polite and helpful to assist us find a restaurant to eat on Sunday. The location is also very nice.

United KingdomOur superior room had a strange alcove with a sloping roof that made half the space redundant and unusable.
The heritage building is wonderful, and the location in the midst of vineyards is incredible. Sadly, the modernisation of the interior makes it pretty bland and characterless. The set menu in the restaurant was excellent. Many thanks to the Albanian staff member in the restaurant, who is a great asset to the hotel and whose service was probably the best part of our stay.

GermanyThe bathroom had been renovated however the floor in the toilet not tiled. Unpleasant plastic floor. Breakfast was of good quality but variety could be better and the refill was slowly. Service in the bar was not good that’s why the rating is lower

United StatesThe restaurant was sub par. Staff was extremely slow and inattentive for dinner service. As far as location, it has a lovely view of the castle it there is absolutely nothing to do in town.
We requested a balcony. Staff provided us with one even though there was a large wedding booked there. It was beautiful amazing view. Comfortable bed.

United KingdomThe hotel was listed as a 4 star on booking .com I think as the rooms and especially the bathrooms are tired and there is no air conditioning it is more like a 3 star. The price did reflect this. The front south facing patio was exceptionally hot with limited shade. such a beautiful spot you felt you wanted to glamourise the patio with planters and greenery for a more cooling affect
the location was excellent for the Alsace wine route. The views from the hotel are beautiful We stayed in the front of the building and had a lovely view at night over the town to the valley below. The staff were very helpful and kind. The gentleman on the breakfasts went out of his way to make sure that the breakfast choices were always plentiful. very good breakfast. The food in the restaurant was excellent although expensive .The head waiter /wine waiter recommended some excellent local wines and nothing was too much trouble . The bedrooms were very clean nice towels and sheets comfortable bed

United KingdomNot enough coffee pods and perhaps another suitcase 'seat' as I had to put mine on the floor but these are minor things
Room overlooking village and surrounding vineyards was lovely. Bathroom has been updated since our last stay now of a high standard. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Great location to explore St Hippolyte and so easy to just walk out from the hotel and pick up the walk to the next village across the vineyards - Orschwiller.

United Kingdomthe restaurant is lovely with a great waiter that tried his best to help all the tables - only thing is that the restaurant is super expensive, more than a night stay in the hotel. also please note, there are two towns in France with the same name. we worked out our motorbike trip to the other town and was very disappointed that we had another two hours to ride to the town with the same name as the booking was made here.
the setting is absolutely beautiful! next to vineyards and overlooking the town. unfortunately we arrived late from our trip else we would have loved to explore the hotel more. the staff were friendly and the rooms big and spacious. the weather was rainy so we could not spend much time outside.
