Everything! It’s hard to choose a place from photos and reviews sometimes, but we were THRILLED we picked this one. The staff are so lovely and the food at the restaurant below was the best we’ve had in Greece. Locally grown and delicious.

Beautiful clean room,with modern bathroom and balcony looking out to sea in one direction and mountains in the other. The owner is super friendly and the staff are helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend this particular hotel. First impressions is that the town is set up only for tourists but it's so much more than that with its little back roads of family homes and gardens, goats, chickens and the obligatory Cretan cat community. At night when the gorge hikers have left it's quiet and you can wander further away from the fast food seafront places to find local Cretan tavernas. With miles of e4 coastline to wander along in addition to the Samaria gorge we enjoyed one long relaxing day on the beach with pretty good snorkeling and had a perfect couple of hoking days on our through hike along southern Crete.

Beautiful hotel with a great restaurant below. Friendly staff, delicious food, scenic views, and a five minute walk to the beach. Tray the chocolate and vanilla milk shake.

The airconditioners next door were very loud while on, so that enjoying the great view from the balcony was unpleasant, but the room was soundproof. There was no rubbish bin other than the bathroom's. The shower water was a bit cold at 21.00.

That we had to leave.

First of all it has the perfect location, it is only a few steps away from the beach and the boat. The rooms were spotless, really clean, beautiful, with a view to the sea and also had everything you will need for a few days. The staff were really polite, friendly and eager to help with every question. Also a good breakfast to start your day (don't forget to taste the sfakiani pie and the aple pie). If you visit Agia Roumeli stay in Calypso.

The hosts are very nice and helpful. The food is excellent, rooms are clean and practically furnished. There were even toiletries and a hair dryer in the room even though they were not advertised. We needed a taxi boat so they arrenged it for us to our full satisfaction. Very pleasant stay.

There was nothing about Calypso that we didn’t like.

The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a cultural pleasure to stay there. We felt completely at home. The breakfasts were generous. The food was excellent, Cretan dishes.

Nothing not to like!

This was our favourite place to stay on our 19 day trip to Crete by far! The brothers running this place are amazing - they made our stay incredibly special. We got there a day late because of problems getting into the gorge and they immediately refunded us without us even knowing....so kind! The bedrooms are so clean, neat and modern. The balcony has a great view of the sea. Bed was very comfy and we slept 9 hours straight! The restaurant below is open all day and they make the most delicious, well priced food that we ended up eating lunch, dinner and breakfast there. We noticed they had their own chickens so our omelette was very fresh! Agia Roumeli is so relaxing and understated - it was such a treat to get to stay there after Samaria Gorge. Definitely stay and eat here - you won't regret it.

The room was newly redone, large, and had a great view. We ate at the restaurant, which had really good food! And the gentleman working the desk was incredibly friendly and helpful in case of questions. I would definitely recommend this place!

Brilliant location, close to beach & dock. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful & professional owner, family & staff. Good food in taverna with lovely shadey veranda. Room very comfortable with perfect enclosed screen shower!
