Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe historic place (and old water cistern) and how nicely it was converted into the holiday flat. Nice and relaxing, although small, patio adjacent to the flat. Fantastic location, not far from the centre of the old town, yet a bit calm. Recomendable to visit Monemvassia on the first Sunday after Orthodox Easter - when the local feast (Panagia Chryssafitissa) is being held.

United StatesOthers have commented on the bathroom size--it IS small but it's a Greek bathroom in an old castle and it was just fine!
It was so nice to walk in the castle gate and see a lovely shop with local products...and a host who clearly knew us from our profile picture and promptly led us to the house. My child was thoroughly charmed by the castle-like feeling of the space.

United KingdomPlease note: This would be the same issue for all accommodation in the pedestrainised heart of Monemvasia. It took us a long time to find a parking space on the road leading up to Monemvasia, then carrying all our stuff and guiding the children safely up the hill was hard work. It would be ideal if someone were able to meet visitors at the gate and provide a parking permit for an allocated space.
The children loved sleeping in a cave and so did we! It was cool and peaceful, with all the delights of ancient Monemvasia in easy walking distance. The staff were all really welcoming, generous and helpful. It was a very special place.

A beautifully restored typical for Monemvasia building, exactly as depicted on the pictures, tiny but comfortable with everything you need, on a small quiet square off the main street. We utterly enjoyed our three days there. The hosts are lovely and reliable, and made us feel very welcome!

United StatesThe door openings were short - my 6'4" husband had to duck to pass through every door. The space was tight, but worked for 2 adults.
Was a very cute place, thoughtfully decorated throughout. A bottle of water and ample coffee supplies (and machines to make coffee) were provided. Had a private outdoor sitting area. The vibe of the place is in keeping with the city.

United StatesParking could be difficult since there is no parking within the city walls. Fortunately, we arrive during the off season and had no difficulties finding a spot but had to walk about 200m to get to the city gates,
Our host was fantastic and extremely helpful. She was getting ready to leave for a few days but made the effort to see us into our room and provided helpful information. Our room was located in an old cistern. It was very unique and cozy. We greatly enjoys or time exploring the castle grounds and the hilltop ruins.

United KingdomThe location is unique: the old town of Monemvasia is a medieval walled town on a small islet just off the coast of the Peloponnese, linked to the mainland through a land-bridge. Large parts of the old town have been wonderfully restored to a very high standard and both the lower town with its medieval houses, churches and squares, and the upper town with its citadel and ruins are not to be missed. The two rental units (Alkmene and Telesilla) are very tastefully and ergonomically restored parts of medieval houses (Telesilla is the converted old cistern of a much larger house). The bunk beds can be a bit of a squeeze (especially in Telesilla where they are a better fit for two children than grown ups) but if you prefer a beautiful, picturesque, and romantic setting over hotel-style roomy blandness then you won't be disappointed. Accessibility will be an issue though if you have restricted mobility, but that goes for the entire town. Both rental units have cosy outside spaces with table and chairs. The local couple who help run the place were lovely, friendly, and very helpful.

Luxembourg- I understand that the accommodation is in a water cistern in the old town and there are practically not many options for changing the layout and making it more comfortable for the guest, however I would not recommend the accommodation to people staying longer than 1-2 nights (e.g. bathroom extremely small, second bunk bed narrow, stuck to a wall and cannot easily fit two adults)
- Location, right in the castle of Monemvasia. Everything of interest is within walking distance. - Clean - Nicely decorated and maintained in its old style - Owners welcoming and friendly

NetherlandsUnique accommodation in old water storage facility. Beautifully decorated and very atmosferic. It’s a bit of a feat they made an accommodation here but beware that it is partly underground and it is made for people substiantally smaller then the average Dutch family haha. Risk of banging your head against doorposts and the shower is really small but creatively made. The owner is absolutely lovely.

ItalyThis is a cozy and nice apartment in an old stone house, very clean and well equipped, the space is small but the location is magic and you can feel the past of Monenvasia. It’s close to the main street with restaurants and bar all with a Great sea vue. Very close to the rocky beach too. The staff was wonderful and we bought very nice products from ms Foteni ‘s shop ( Malvasia and body cream from her company)
