How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The bathroom was a little too small for comfort.
The location, nestled in the heart of the city, a stone’s throw from the old city, but still private and tranquil. Also the beautiful, sunny little veranda - wish we had that at home!

Wi-Fi was a bit unstable. Would have loved coffee supplied.
Very quiet but very close to everything. Clean and modern, very welcoming hosts. Loved having a peaceful courtyard.

The bathroom was quite tiny.
The location was excellent, right outside the city walls. The apartment is cute and comfortable. We particularly liked the terrace. Our host, Andrea, was very helpful and walked to meet us to go to the apartment when we were lost.

It would have been appreciated if there was some coffee or tea for at least the first day. I have never stayed at a BNB that did not offer at least that, some leave cookies etc. The freezer was very frozen needed to be defrosted.
Apartment was very convenient to Old Town.

Amazing location, short 5 minute walk into Old Town and the harbour and the same the other direction for Banje Beach. The apartment was spacious, clean and had a beautiful rooftop terrace.

Unfortunately it didn't meet our requirement as we were travelling in a group that needed to be divided in 3 rooms with 3 ensuites, but this had only 2.
The apartment was lovely and ideal for a family. Location was great and within close proximity to the old city. It was clean and large and had all the facilities you would need.

For travel with a small baby it was perfect. We could reach the city center of Dubrovnik within 5 min of walking, and go any time back to the apartment to rest. Good pizzeria right at the corner of the street.

A hook for the curtain across the front door would be helpful to reduce light and noise through the door. But really everything was great!
Stunning apartment, had absolutely everything we needed and more. The terrace was lovely, the bed was really comfortable and the sofa was made into a really comfortable bed for our child. The kitchen was so well appointed and even had a washing machine. Bathroom a little small, but very clean and modern.

The apartment is in a fab location, just outside the city walls but v close to shops, the beach and some great restaurants. It’s also spotlessly clean and Bibi is a great host. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend. Dubrovnik was very hot when we were there and the air conditioning was very effective.

The single full bathroom is ensuite, so if both bedrooms are occupied, the people in the second bathroom have to pass through the main bedroom to use the bathroom. But there is a 1/2 bathroom downstairs, so that wasn't a serious inconvenience
Great location, 2 minutes walk from the Old Town but also quiet and private. Clean, comfortable, newly renovated. Everything in the apartment worked perfectly, especially the air conditioning, and it has all modern conveniences, including a washing machine. Wonderful host. Our flight was delayed, and Bibi waited for us until 1 am to settle us in. Highly recommended

Access to bathroom was through a bedroom so not ideal when travelling with another couple (friends).

the balcony cannot be used during the day before dawn, needs a proper shading. TV didn’t work eventhough our host got the technician in.
Beautiful appartement, fully equipped , perfect location, 5min walk to the old city gate, supermarket and restaurants. Very caring host.

The downstairs apartment is not really suitable for two couples as the main bathroom is accessed through one of the bedrooms. There is a second toilet and basin downstairs however. More suited to a family. The upstairs apartment suitable for a couple with young child.
Comfortable mattresses, linen and plenty of towels. Great location.
