Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The hosts are super friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay, it was my first time in Croatia after 50 years and I loved it. The beach is right in front of the Villa and you can walk for miles to other villages from there. There are lovely restaurants and coffee places along the beach, when I went it was very quiet, hardly any tourists, beautiful. I went already for a swim before breakfast. The accommodation is on two levels and suited me well, I will go again. You can cook you own meals and make breakfast, there are supermarkets near by and the airport bus is only 10 min walk away, it takes 15 min to get to the airport, perfect, aeroplane noise was almost non existent, may be one in a few hours, I went in late September.

SwitzerlandNothing, it was just a blessing for us to be able to spend two nights there until we were recovered.
The family was so very nice to us, welcoming us very friendly! They were always responding to our request very quickly, they offered their help when we were recovering from an accident and a cold, they gave us advice on where to cycle with our bikes and just in general were such lovely people! Also the apartment is very good: comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, three beds, clean, right next to the sea (lovely area to be!). What else can you ask for?!:) We loved it.

BulgariaOur stay in Villa Soulavy was an incredible experience - a stone house at the seaside and just 10 steps away from a quiet beach. There’s no noises around, no crowds of tourists, and at the same time you have everything that you’d ever need next to you - supermarkets, bakeries, atm, restaurants and the bus to Split and Trogir. We traveled by car and there is parking space outside. The apartment wasn’t spacious but was cozy, with an AC, clean and has everything for a longer stay. The host, Damira, is amazing, she’s always helpful, welcoming and with a smile. She made our stay worth it. I strongly recommend and hope we can come back to this piece of heaven.

United KingdomThe air conditioning barely worked. Fortunately the weather wasn’t too hot but in mid summer this would have been a problem. The furnishings are quite outdated.
Wonderful location right by the sea with an extremely good restaurant close by. Great view from the bedroom. Friendly and helpful host. We were offered sun beds to take to the beach which was really useful.

United StatesPerhaps the most unsettling aspect of my stay was the feeling of intruding upon the owners' space. I had booked what I presumed to be a small apartment, but it turned out to be a much larger space located within the owners' home. While I am open to quirky and unique accommodations, this particular setup made me feel rather uncomfortable. It's essential for a guest to feel at ease, and in this case, the setup detracted from that experience. Moreover, I noted that the property may pose challenges for guests with mobility issues due to the presence of a spiral staircase that can be quite awkward to navigate, especially considering the beds are upstairs and the toilet was down. While quirkiness can add character to a place, it should not compromise accessibility, particularly for those with specific needs. Regarding the location, while Villa Šoulavy is indeed close to a beach, it was not a particularly appealing one. Furthermore, reaching restaurants and nicer beaches required a 30-minute walk, which may not be convenient for guests seeking a more central location. Finally, it was perplexing to me that Villa Šoulavy had received positive reviews in the past. Upon further inquiry, it became evident that the property had changed hands multiple times, which could explain the inconsistency in reviews. At the time of my review, it appears that the property is currently unlisted, further contributing to my sense of disconnect. In conclusion, my stay at Villa Šoulavy left me with mixed feelings, primarily due to the discrepancy between expectations and reality, the requirement for cash payment, and the overall discomfort of the accommodation setup. It is my hope that this review will contribute to a more informed decision-making process for future travelers, while also serving as constructive feedback for the property owners to enhance the overall guest experience.
I must admit that my experience at Villa Šoulavy was not in alignment with my initial expectations. It is with a sense of responsibility that I share my observations, aiming to offer a balanced and fair perspective on my stay. I make a point of only leaving good reviews, but this time I want to inform other travelers of the issues I wish were known to me before booking. Firstly, the discrepancy between the property's description and the actual experience was rather notable. The photos and description provided on the booking platform did not entirely match the reality I encountered upon arrival. This variance in expectations was, regrettably, the first of several issues. Upon arrival, I was taken aback when the owners requested payment in cash. This requirement had not been explicitly communicated during the booking process, and it did catch me off guard. Clarity regarding payment methods is an essential aspect of any accommodation, and the expectation of cash payment should have been clearly stated in advance. One of the most concerning aspects of my stay was the unpleasant smell within the building. It is my belief that a hospitable environment should offer a clean and odor-free atmosphere, which regrettably was not the case at Villa Šoulavy during my visit.
