Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We stayed there for two nights. This place exceeded our expectations. The staff (or family!) was amazing, very kind and helpful. We had the traditional dinner two nights in a row because we did not want to miss out on the great home-cooked meals. We also did the rice field tour from the stay, which was also very authentic. All in all I would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed all of this place. They make you feel you in home, sharing their time and knowledge about their culture and life style. Very interesting the dinner that we had with them, they prepare you a few very authentical dishes and you have the chance to eat with them sitting in the floor as they do. Also the rice fields tour has been super nice.

GermanyWe loved every thing.
This homestay felt like staying with friends! The family who runs it / lives there embraces you and your children and makes your stay a very special and unforgettable one indeed (beautiful walks, waterfalls, handy crafting, tasty food etc.) The area of Tetebatu is also super beautiful and laid back. We already miss everyone, our daughters want to come back tomorrow and If we had more time here in Lombok we certainly would. 10/10 thank you for everything!!

NetherlandsIf you’re looking for a welcoming, homely atmosphere with lovely food you’ve come to the right place. It was our kids’ (7 and 10 years old) favorite place during our 3-week trip of Java, Bali and Lombok. (And they don’t even have a pool!) The girls really enjoyed the ‘handy crafts tour’ with Makbul (great guy) where they could try braiding bamboo crafts (and our youngest bought a great ‘rice-hat’) and pottery. A visit to the local market was a nice extra. (We bought some ‘Dadar gulung’ there - one of my favorite snacks, pancake with sugar and coconut). The guided walk with Chung through the rice fields to the waterfall was beautiful and Chung is just lovely. It’s perhaps not the most impressive waterfall of Lombok but it’s location, secluded in a kind of cave, makes it a little adventure to get there. (Watershoes are handy.) Our kids loved playing here, climbing up the rocks and jumping into the water. We loved the singing and playing guitar after dinner with Amang, Chung, Muzi and Makbul in English, Indonesian..and even Dutch! It’s lovely to walk out to the rice fields before breakfast with a coffee, right across the street. On a clear day you can see Rinjani. The facilities (bungalow, shower etc) are simple but fine. Free coffee/tea all day is a nice plus.

SwedenThere is absolutely nothing to complain about. Green Haven Homestay is HEAVEN!
Green Haven Homestay was the absolute favourite on our trip around Indonesia! This is the kindest, loveliest, sweetest and funniest family to stay with of all people we have met. They offered great local dinner in the evening, which was unforgettable, and also played guitarr and sang after dinner, together with us. The rice terrace trekk with Mazi was also a real highlight and is highly recommended. He is so knowleadable about all plants, fruits and everything in the surroundings. The staff was amazing! We had the traditional dinner and sang together for many hours. They offer tours and we did the rice field walk (with many benefits) and the snorkeling tour. The staff comes with you on the tour and know so much about everything and always make sure everything is safe. We felt every moment of our stay very welcome and enjoyed every meal we ate.

This was our favourite place to stay in our four weeks in Indonesia. The bungalows are lovely but the family running the homestay are what makes this a special place. Our younger daughter (three years old) was welcomed as one of the children and would often be found playing together with their kids. They run the trips around the area themselves and after realising our kids were struggling in the heat arranged for a friend to carry us around on the back of a small truck (which the kids loved). The dinners were very special with local dishes that outshone the restaurants in the area and singalongs to finish the night. A highlight of our trip.

This place has amazing staff, they are so friendly and welcoming. Our kids loved them. The homestay is located in a very nice area with plenty to do and the homestay can arrange everything for you. The temperature at Tetebatu is better than at the coast. We stayed 2 nights, but 3 or 4 is better. They serve very good food.
