Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New Zealand-Unfortunately the village is extremely full of trash it is really sad. This isn’t the fault of the property but you should be aware. It would be better if they didn’t offer so many plastic bottles to the guests as this doesn’t help the problem. -There were a few hidden costs (extra ranger fees etc) which weren’t included or communicated before hand. These should be included or explained up front.
-Authentic way to see the Komodo Dragons in a more responsible way and avoid the overcrowding tourism at Loh Liang. You also get a chance to experience the way the people in Komodo village live, where 70% of the people are employed by tourism at the park. The people of the village are extremely friendly and you can walk freely around the village. -The accommodation was very basic but well set up, cool enough at night with a fan and even tea/coffee facilities in each room. Also a beautiful sunrise/sunset view from each room. Food was really nice especially the packed lunches. Indonesian style toilet but western shower, shared with the family. -You can see the dragons behind the village where the locals have set up a walking area with many dragons around (you must go with Jacky or a ranger). We were lucky enough to see two dragons kill a goat and fight for it! -We caught the local boat there, and returned by private boat. The local boat cost 100k pp, and took around 5 hours. It leaves Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 10am and returns Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday. -We did a two day private local boat tour while we were there, covering Padar, Manta Point, Taka beach, pink beach, menjerite, Kelor and a visit to the main national park. The cost is about equivalent to a 3D2N liveaboard for two people and included drop off in Labuan Bajo on the second day. Doing it this way you can avoid ALL of the crowds at every spot and see the dragons in a nice way. We had each place essentially to ourselves which made the experience really wonderful and relaxed.

AustraliaIt's a shame there is so much plastic waste being discarded around the village. I know Jacky is against this and hopefully attitudes will change by the villagers . The day before we left a net fence was installed to prevent plastic in the dry river bed from entering the ocean. The homestay is in transition and basic but will be improved in the coming months. Nice to support a local family having done it hard, especially through covid.
Jacky was an amazing host. We stayed for 3 nights and he organised day trips to the popular spots making sure we got there before the crowds. Even on pink beach there were just four of us and his wife had done a packed lunch. We got some amazing shots of Komodo dragons out behind the village and on the long walk trail. From the balcony we saw turtles and even a dugong playing with a turtle. Snorkled with Manta Rays, sharks,, stingrays and more turtles, one was huge!

FranceFor us nothing.
We like staying two nights in the village and also to discover the way of life of the local people. The guest house is in front of the sea and the vue is amazing. Jacky was our guide during the two days et we have done many things with him. Only with an other Australian couple far from the tourists. We speak a lot with Jacky who explain us the habits of the komodo people. We have really appreciate his kindness.

AustraliaJecki and his family were amazing hosts. It’s truly a unique experience staying on Komodo island with them and Jecki taking you on his boat around the famous sites instead of paying for a 3 day boat trip, you are contributing to a well deserved family. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included. Jacki’s wife is a great cook!

Authentic experience on komodo island! Jackie is a beautiful host and living with his family is a great experience. Instead of booking a crowded tour from labuan bajo this is an option that not everyone knows. You don t even need to go to the national park to see the dragons because they are directly behind the village! Also jackie can organise all the trips to the manta point, padar, pink beach etc..recommended if you don't care to have basic facilities and a more true indoneisan experience!

United KingdomNothing - it was perfect and the family was amazing! Just be aware that the WiFi/signal depends on weather and there is only a fan in the room :)
Wow! I wish I could give this more stars!! We had a fantastic time with Jackie and his family staying on the Komodo Island 🤩 We would really recommend this for anyone wanting to see the island at a more leisurely pace. The room was lovely - there was a fan, a comfy bed and it was right on the water front of the village. Jackie and his wife were wonderful hosts and within the price you get 3 delicious meals a day! Jackie also organised for us to take a local boat with a local captain to see Manta Point/Pandar/pink beach - he's a local ranger so he took us around Komodo Nation Park (and even his own village) where we saw loads of Komodo dragons. We loved his stories and he spoke excellent English! It was the best experience we had in Indonesia so far ❤️ Some tips that we learnt: There is a public boat but it only leaves on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. It's from the fish market on Labuan Badjo (if you go there the locals are really helpful). We paid 100k each. It leaves at 11am but we arrived at 9am - there are no seats so be ready to sit on the floor. It's a busy boat so we were squished like sardines. The boat takes around 4 hours and is loud but there was a toilet onboard. The return boat leaves on Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday back to Labuan Badjo. If this isn't something you're interested in, speak to Jackie as he'll arrange collection and drop off with you for a reasonable price (and it can work around your schedule). It's totally worth staying on the island - the views are amazing! Best sunset we've seen! You also see waaayy more dragons near the village than at the National Park (and there aren't many people) The boat Jackie organised for us was 2 million for the whole day! The captain knew exactly where to find the Manta rays and even came swimming with us. It was lovely to see the sights on our times so would highly recommend this :) we did the national park on the same day to only purchase the ticket once!

SpainAmazing experience. The place is basic, bed and rudimentary bathroom, but the location, the host and the activities made our days here the best part of our trip!! And his wife makes delicious meals too :) I have no words to describe everything we experienced here but I will try… If you can’t travel with the local boat, for an extra price, Jeki (the host and guide) can come pick you up and drop you off. Also for an extra, he will take you on an amazing day of activities. Worth it!!! We started by going to Padar Island which had tourists but was beautiful. The rest of the trip we were alone. Jeki spotted manta fish and we swan with 17 of them!! Pink beach and Makassar point also stunning and had them all for ourselves. Finally we went to look for komodos. We say eight of them right behind the village! Since we had time we also walked around the village and got to meet families and play football with the boys. We would have stayed for days!!

SwedenThis is a homestay with the one of the local people of Komodo village, who is also a Komodo park ranger. It is not a hotel and does not at all have western standards or facilities, so it is not possible to review as a hotel. The reason to go here is that it provides a base for a more genuine experience of the Komodo park than going on the speedboats. The owner Jeki can organize tours with the same itinerary (dragon treks, Padar Island, snorkeling and so on) but with just yourself and your company where you will have peace and quiet and lots of time to do whatever you want, not being surrounded by 50 other people. You will get there by fishing boat, and the local people of Komodo of course are the best at knowing all about the area and where all the animals can be found, I saw lots of dragons, mantas and turtles. I was warmly welcomed and got to eat home cooked delicious Indonesian food. My bedroom was on the top floor, had a fan and was sea front with beautiful view, I could sit on the balcony and watch the sunset. The bathroom was downstairs and shared with the family. There is wifi although the signal is unreliable. To get here you can either take the public local ferry or arrange with Jeki to pick you up at the airport and go by fishing boat, as I did. My journey took about 3-3,5 hours one way. Jeki is easily contacted on his WhatsApp. It was all a great adventure and a more authentic Komodo trip than I otherwise would have had.

ItalyHis accommodation is for real travellers, not for tourists, in fact it does not meet European standards, it is all very basic and essential, the room is upstairs and the bathroom is shared with the family downstairs. Every morning at 5 you can hear the prayer of the mosque which is very loud, also the people of the village are very noisy in the morning. It takes a bit of adaptation and patience, but if you are willing to do this, I assure you that you will spend unique, incredible days discovering wonderful places.
Let me start by saying that Jeki and his family are very hospitable and kind. His wife cooks very well, rice, noodles with vegetables, grilled fish and chicken and other local food. Even though I have stomach problems I have never felt sick. Jeki organizes some great excursions, and always does his best to make you happy. The wife prepares the lunch box every day to take on excursions. Jeki knows how to drive a boat and is also the national park ranger. Jeki does his best to make these days special, he is a smart guy and thanks also to our advice he will improve the accommodation and services in the coming months. Book with Jeki, in addition to experiencing a wonderful trip, you contribute to a good family. We will be back, that's a promise.
