We absolutely loved staying with John and his family. The space was lovely and comfortable. The location was great, the environment was so welcoming and the room was super cozy. Highly highly recommend.

I had a really great time at Rango’s homestay, the personal is really nice and they help you with everything you need. You have the option to join for dinner and it was really good food. It is a bit further from Moni but the guys bring you to the village when you need it.

Big room, nice outdoor shower, the host prepared dinner/bbq for all the guests together and gave us many information about their culture ect. Everything is really clean, they took us to the Kelimutu in the morning, breakfast is nice. Everything was perfect! :)

The property is located right alongside a river with stunning views of greenery all around, it’s a charming block of land also near a local bridge good to watch life go by. It’s such a unique property with a sizeable bedroom and cool semi outdoor bathroom. The owner is such a gentleman he really made sure we were looked after and was very hospitable. Great local knowledge and was able to organise tours for us. Thank you Jhon we’ll definitely stay again!

Perfect place to discover Moni, Kelimutu and the surrounding area. Here, you are welcomed like a member of the family. The atmosphere is incredible. The room is comfortable and the setting idyllic. Jhon and his team make sure you feel at home. It's the perfect opportunity to learn more about Indonesian culture in Flores, but also to make new friends. Music, barbecues, guided tours... We had a great stay here when we visited. The room was as I expected from the photos and there was hot water in the outdoor shower. The garden is nice and you look over the flowing river whilst eating breakfast. Tea/coffee and water is available in the kitchen whenever you want. John was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and he took it upon himself to tell us lots about the local area and culture. The evening food was delicious as was breakfast. We arranged all our transport with him and he picked us up and took us back to the airport as well as to Kelimutu national park for sunrise and to the hot springs. We would highly recommend this homestay when visiting Moni

The property is beside the only road, just like the rest of Moni, so traffic goes past early and late. If you're travelling into regional Indo without earplugs though, it's kinda your own fault. The addition of a bathroom sink would complete the rooms.

The highlight is Yohanes (John), the friendliest and most helpful man in all of Flores! He went above and beyond to make sure my stay in Moni was enjoyable and well informed. He takes the time to get to know each guest and make sure they have all you need. Breakfast is huge fresh and tasty and set menu vegetarian dinners are cooked by the friendly team and served family style at the same table with Yohanes and other guests for a chin wag. There are several options up in town for lunch a 20min walk away, and it is also fine to have dinner elsewhere. John was able to rent me a scooter and ensure I was able to safely drive it (you need it to get to Kelimutu unless you're joining a group tour bus with guide). John was also able to collect and drop me off at Ende airport for a reasonable fee, stopping along the way for a cup of tea at some beautiful rice paddies. Don't expect luxury with the rooms, they're basic but they're functional, what I would expect in a small town, but I had a comfy enough bed and the best semi outdoor shower I've come across in Indo, not long lasting, but flowing and hot. There's no aircon but you don't need it, Moni is pleasantly cool at night. John's family and friends often come by for lunch etc and there are works underway to finish off the new guesthouses, but it never felt like an intrusion or inconvenience due to the relaxed family vibes. Jembo the doggo is super cute and my new little friend.

We had the most amazing stay at Rago's. The owners and the staff are incredibly friendly and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble, and we really enjoyed spending time with them, especially eating dinner with John, Sarce and Imon. The rooms are comfortable with a really lovely private bathroom, the setting is beautiful, the food is brilliant, and they have big plans for the homestay so I think it will only get better. Thank you for having us!

Simple place with great, helpful staff. Nice breakfast and we loved the outdoor hot shower! You can rent a motorbike to reach the village and explore the area.

Sound proof really poor, at night can hear everything and during our stay I could hear pigs and other people talking, working and chatting. Hard to sleep. And the electricity not stable, should work on that in the future!

Clean room, outside bathroom with hot shower. We had dinner at the Homestay and the food was delicious (vegetarian). Also the breakfast was fantastic. Salty pancakes and a big fruit platter. The hosts and there staff were very helpful.

We had a wonderful time at Rago's homestay. Johanes (Jon) is a great host. He likes talking to his guests and he smiles and laughs a lot. He speaks good English and is prompt in responding to questions. We also hired him to take us around. The homestay has three rooms and Jon is currently building four more units. We stayed at other homestays before and we can say without a doubt that this is one of the nicer homestays out there. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. It has the all important hot shower. The enclosed semi outdoor bathroom with plants is a nice touch. No air-conditioning is needed as Moni is up in the mountains. We got under the sheets and it was cozy. They prepared pancakes with honey and fruits for breakfast and a delicious dinner. If you want a comfortable stay at a reasonable price, disconnect a little from the outside world and be around friendly people, then look no further than Rago's homestay.
