Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyAccommodation in the middle of the forest, secluded and ideal for relaxing. You can be in Labuan Bajo in half an hour (with a Scooter) and there are various things to explore all around. We spent four nights here and felt very comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and conjured up really delicious food, which stood out from many other accommodations. Even restaurants could learn a thing or two here. There are no charging facilities or WiFi, but there is a café nearby where you have reception and can charge your devices. We would love to come back 😊

United StatesProbably best to rent a moto so its easier to get around. You can flag down a ride from the road but it takes awhile. The location is a bit far from the town in the village which can be nice but also inconvenient
I implore you to at least come here for dinner if you aren’t staying here. Eating is one of my favorite activities, and this is some if the best food I’ve ever had. They accommodated my vegetarian diet, and all of the food was slow cooked over open fire. It was all fresh, healthy and delicious. The property is beautiful, and the little bungalow is very cute and quiet

Basic facilities but that’s the point of staying in a place like this. Nature is beautiful and staff members are nice and helpful. Food was delicious. Good value for money.

GermanyNothing at all.
It was just so wonderful! Liz, the owner, is a great person and I really enjoyed talking to her for hours. You should definitely book dinner, it's worth it. The breakfast is also excellent. There are also many daily activities that you can take part in spontaneously. I can really recommend staying there, I will definitely come back! Ps: do not expect WiFi. That's part of the experience!

New ZealandBeautiful property located not far from Labuan bajo. Well worth having dinner there one night. Melo cafe is also close by and does nice food (but be prepared for a hard walk uphill to reach it unless you have a motorbike). Overall we had a lovely stay.

NetherlandsConsidering the nature of this location, I (and other fellow guests) expected and introduction to the place or at least more presence from the owner, that did not show up at all. We opted to have the local tribal dinner, however we found it pricey for the quantity of food offered (not talking about taste as this is subjective), and the vegetarian options for my companion were considered but not in enough quantity (there were other 2 vegetarian guests on a total of 4, and no vegetarian food was left).
The nature, the quietness, the cute cats, the relax this location offers, the common area (restaurant).

NetherlandsNothing I didn’t like.
What did I like about the property? Well everything actually! We liked it soo much we visited twice in a few days. The location is just amazing. A little bit away from the main road (not a very good road though) and therefore very quiet. The place is surrounded by beautiful forests full of birds. The lodges are simple but exactly enough. Be aware there’s no electricity and wifi, so make sure to charge your devices. The food is simply astonishing. Locally grown, made on woodfire and served with love. We ordered the vegan option, which was very reasonably priced. The staff working there is very kind and hospitable. If you look for accommodation close to Labuan Bajo or on your way to the east, definitely stay here!

GermanyOur stay was amazing. The huts are typical from the Manggarai people, who live in the area, and it is the mission of Liz, one of the owners to provide that experience to her guests. The huts are comfy and the place is just amazing, surrounded by nature and quiet. The staff was great too, super nice and super helpful. We had the chance to talk to the owners of the place and they’re really nice people, we felt very welcomed. We also did the tribal dinner and it was delicious, can really recommend! I recommend the whole experience of straying at Sten Eco Lodge!

NetherlandsLocation was a bit far from Bajo city, so better to rent a motorcyle to help you get around the area.
Such an amazing place if you want to be surrounded by nature and getting to know the real culture of flores. We learn so much from Tara - the owner, had great food and peaceful time. We’re definitely coming back when we’re in Flores!

ItalyThe only area for improvement (which is probably beyond their control) was that it was a bit difficult to reach with the motor bike cause the dirt road getting there is terrible. But the location makes up for it! Absolutely beautiful!
We had to do a late check-in, and they were really nice about it. Extremely accommodating and the staff was super!

DenmarkAs someone who easily gets very cold, I could have used a thicker blanket/duvet.
The host welcomed us warmly and we had dinner after a long day with the other guests, which was great. The room was super cute and there was such a nice vibe, with chicks and cats walking around in the garden. Unfortunately we arrived to late to chill in the hammocks and enjoy the garden, but we will do that the next time we visit.

GermanyI was hoping to have cultural activities with the lodge. However, no one offered or explained about the availability. Whenever I stay in a small establishments, I always find interaction with the owners are important. Unfortunately, I was not able to get that this time. I wish I could have talked with the owner directly and learned about their experience/passion about surrounding local community.
I really liked how the lodge is very quite and calm. It was a great opportunity for us to become one with nature. I also really liked how the place is clean, and the mattress was very comfortable. We did not have any difficulties to sleep :)

AustriaThe staff was super welcoming and friendly. A stay at Sten Eco Homestay is an experience. It is located in a jungle surrounded by nature, the family grows everything themself, even the cacao for the breakfast pancakes. However, at night, there‘s quite a lot of animals around, so, as I said - it‘s an experience. But everything is clean.
