Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe room could use an update. The flooring is carpet and seemed worn. The bathroom shower was very small and the sliding doors were sticky in the tracks. The wood / pressboard facade under the sink in both rooms that we stayed in was falling apart. When we checked in during our second stay, the person working the front desk didn’t actually give us our room number with the code. She looked at us and said ‘check your booking.com messages, the room number and code should be there’. Not exactly top notch customer service…
The breakfast buffet had a nice variety. There was an opportunity to park in a couple of spots in front of the hotel and more spots available across the street for free. If those are not available, then there are metered spots available, but they sent us instructions and a YouTube video in advance, so it was easy to figure out. The room was clean and quiet. We were only here for one night at the beginning of our trip and one night at the end, so didn’t spend much time here.

The hotel is conveniently located - about a half mile from downtown. The breakfast was good and they even had some gluten free options. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean.

United StatesThe breakfast menu never changed the entire time we were there, and there were so few items that it got boring fast. While we had a place to park every day, it was always a gamble as there is no actual hotel parking, just street parking. One night we got back after 8pm - the lobby doors were locked and our code didn't work. We called the number listed but someone was in the lobby and let us in before the operator could fix it. No fridge in the room made packing for a day trip/having snacks available tricky.
The hotel staff was mostly pleasant and helpful - not very friendly but that could be a cultural miscommunication/expectation. There was breakfast every morning, it was walking distance to downtown and the walking path near the water, and they had a coffee machine that was available anytime.

United StatesThough we knew to expect it, there was only someone at the reception desk from 8am to 8pm.
22 Hill Hotel was what we expected! We enjoyed the breakfast, which had its own area in a restaurant attached to the hotel. They even treat their hot water so it doesn't smell like sulfur! (Hot water in Iceland comes from underwater geothermal springs, so typically contains sulfur and thus smells like eggs.)

United StatesNot crazy about the check in process. They send you a code for your room to your phone and that’s the code used to get in and out of your room. Little old fashion still prefer a key. Location could’ve been better. Lots of construction going on across the street and quite a long walk to the main part of the city.
Stayed two different nights . One of the beginning at the trip and one at the end. The first night room was just OK. Not a very good view of the alley. Second night that we stayed at the end of our trip room was much brighter and nicer. Staff was friendly hotel was clean. The plus is that they have a restaurant that’s exceptional.

United StatesOnly Stairs or steep incline to front door of hotel. Difficult with large or heavy or multiple suitcases and no assistance provided by the hotel. Some older ladies had a difficult time without hotel assistance both coming and leaving the property...perhaps not best for clients with large suitcases or older.
Close to cruise port and easily accessible via taxi. Wonderful buffet breakfast with many options. Within walking distance of shops.

United KingdomHad ordered a take away breakfast as we had an early start and an email from the hotel asking us to sort this on check in. Tried to do that with reception and sent around corner to restaurant for breakfast was situated. They said it was too late to order as they hadn't been told. Went back to reception who reluctantly told us to pick up a bag from them at 8pm. Received a round of sandwiches, two apples and two chocolate wafers for two people. Had to keep overnight in room. Not very good
Comfy quiet room

United StatesThe room was unusually small and very warm. By mid afternoon the sun Made the room uncomfortably warm, even with the darkening shade down and window open. The room and bathroom were very small, could not have one person shower while one used the toilet. Location was close enough to city center you could walk, but less mobile couples might think it too far away. Staff was very pleasant and tried hard to be helpful.
