Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaEverything was fine and in accordance with the price of the room. There was a slight amount of noise from the street with tourists walking by, but it was not excessive by any means. With the fabulous location right across from the church, that is to be expected.
We didn’t have a room that included breakfast, although we had the option to pay directly for it. We especially appreciated that we could go into the breakfast room area at any time of day to enjoy free tea or coffee. The lounge area where this was available was very pleasant, with comfortable seating and an attractive decor. That was a real bonus for this hotel.

AustraliaWe were put in a room on level 4 which has very low ceilings. Our ensuite was tiny compromising of a toilet and shower in the one small combined space. My husband is tall, over 190cm and this room was very awkward. I was hitting my head on the roof and I am only 163cm tall.
Some of the staff were super friendly others not so much. Right across the street from the Hallgrímskirkja Church makes this a great location.

Canadaa bit expensive but when you realize when is situated the hotel, you understand why. Wish I had the money to stay there longer.
Is in the center of the town, very accessible, can walk to almost anywhere from there, restaurants and busy life of Reykjavik easily accessible. Love the place.

United StatesWe arrived late (~2330), which I indicated as being our arrival time when I booked. We both tried the door handle to the building and could not open the door, called the only phone line we could find repeatedly, with no answer, and rang the camera doorbell repeatedly over a 30-45 minute timeframe. We could see through the windows that there was no one in the front lobby/reception through this time. I finally started trying to find a different hotel, and thankfully we called one last time, to which the line was finally answered by the receptionist who said they'd been there the whole time and the door was unlocked. Subsequently had no issue, but it was an offputting start. Room was small, which I had no problem with, but the layout of the furniture was awkward. Also out of 10+ hotels we stayed at in Iceland, this was one of only 2 which had a very strong sulfur smell whenever you ran the hot water. I guess this is more due to source than the hotel itself, it was just a bit overpowering even for a short shower.
Best location I could have asked for - easy walking distance to some great restaurants and shops, food carts right across the street along with the beautiful church and a statue garden, easy acces to the main roads. Room was nice and quiet despite being over the busy street, and overall layout is quite nice (each set of rooms has it's own vestibule area from the main floor to help with hallway noise). Didn't affect us, but there are no elevators.

United StatesThere are two buildings and i had key issues for all the days i was there - kept on running between buildings. They need to solve that!
The staff was very friendly and took care of any key issues. The location is amazing - all of my day tours left from the church parking lot right across the street. There is a small grocery store nearby for snacks. Easy walking to all the restaurants and shopping areas

United StatesThe lack of an elevator was a surprise. The rooms were small but adequate. The breakfast seemed highly priced for what was offered.
The staff at the reception desk was outstanding. Since there was no elevator the receptionist helped to get my bag to the room and did it cheerfully. They also helped to book my bus tickets to return to the airport. The rooms were clean and the location is great.

FinlandFrom the information of Hotel, regarding parking place, you get understanding that there is parking place at the hotel. Actually the parking place is around the close Church of Hallgrimskirkja and it is was very crowded. Luckily we managed to find place for our rental car. Also Europecar rental place (if you have booked rental car from City center point) is not next to Hotel (their webpages show wrong), it is straight Line from hotel 2,2 km.along the Njardargata (cross the big road) and takes 30 min walking. Church is very near and you can hear the bells clearly every 15 minutes starting round am 9-10. Luckily not during night(ends playing 21-22). A bit noisy - (lot of tourists looking the Church and there is 2 Food vans and Popular Restaurant ROK) next to Hotel.
Very central place, you cant miss the Hotel because it is next to Hallgrimskirkja. Good and friendly staff.
