Location was awesome. Takayama isn't *that* large of a town, but everything was within reasonable walking distance from the hostel. The staff was very friendly and helped out with a lot of stuff like restaurant recommendations and stuff. The facility itself was in basis a hostel; but it still managed to keep it's privacy with the private rooms. The futon/tatami sleeping accomodation was a nice experience! Was also very doable with our 2 kids!

Please be adviced that even though the upper levels are accessible by elevator, the lobby is at 2nd floor and you still need to take the stairs to get there.

Location is perfect, so close to Takayama station and intercity bus terminal. Easy to find! Plenty of places to eat around it too. Bed and room are amazing. Very comfy so it's really hard to get up early in the morning. Very clean, decently spacious and organized with full size kitchen! You can cook your own meal if you want! They have affordable washing service, 1 free washing coupon if you stay at least 3 days with them. They have affordable bike rental too. I think it's the best way to explore the town. After check out, they can keep your baggage/luggage for free until 20.00 (8pm) of the same day; plus using the kitchen and common area. Last but definitely not least, staff are very friendly and helpful!

For me, the bathroom on the 5th floor was a bit small. The doors were closed by normal key, which I think is old fashioned.

By foot it is only 3-5 minutes away from the Takayama station. People are nice.

We wanted to try a traditional japanese room... And it definitely didn't disappoint! We recommend it for anyone who wants to get a genuine feeling of just enjoying your stay. There was no TV in the room, but that just made it much better because we enjoyed our time in the evenings talking or reading. The staff was great (they were very nice) and the accommodation had a common area where we could drink tea or coffee and enjoy the room (which was beautiful). The location was perfect. Walking distance to everything we wanted to visit. We recommend it for sure!

Quiet facility. We were in a 4 bed room, but just ended up being the two of us which was nice because we were up early to catch trains. Had a nice cup of complimentary tea/coffee on our way out and they had a nice clean kitchen/dining area available for use. Great location, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Used the free rental umbrellas. Great Indian restaurant just down the street.

No liftform 1st floor to the looby on the 2nd floor. Lift only starts from 2nd floor.

The only downside I experienced was that it was quite loud at night (loud footsteps above us, kids shouting). I think this might be a combination of it being a slightly older building (?) and us staying at a very busy time (during the festival). That being said, I think that was just our bad luck, and it shouldn't put anyone off staying- overall the hostel was great!

Very conveniently located right by the train and bus station, there are a couple of good restaurants with veggie and meat options on the same street, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was a short and beautiful walk into town.
