Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanMy room was next to the street so it was rather noisy while the trams were running. My bed's mattress was uneven, one side being lower than the other, which was a minor discomfort.
The location is excellent being within easy walking distance of the station, and the bus from the airport stops right outside the hotel! Breakfast was very good and better value than eating out. The onsen was very nice and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful.

FranceI think as a hotel willing to accept foreigners, the policy on onsen and tattoos should be revised as this is not reinforced by law in Japan, rather just a cultural block. Who knows, maybe one day even the Japanese can enjoy onsen regardless of drawings on their skin.
The hotel seemed pretty new, everything was tidy and clean. Staff was very welcoming and nice. Location is pretty great, close to bus terminal and walking distance to city center.

JapanThe room size was quite small, and unfortunately, the bed was not very comfortable. Despite being a solo traveler, I was assigned a twin room with a bunk bed, which was not ideal in terms of comfort. On the positive side, the onsen facilities were satisfactory, and the breakfast provided was the highlight of the service I received during my stay. Overall, the hotel fulfilled the basic requirements for a few days' stay at a reasonable price.

NetherlandsThe room was really narrow, so I had to unpack my suitcase on my bed. Also the room smelled badly when I came in. There was a lot of noice from outside, mostly sirens from police/firefighters. The worst experience for me was the fact my room was placed right in the middle of several rooms full of highschool/uni students. They made a lot of noice, and even (by mistake) knocked on my door.
The staff was very friendly/helpful, and able to explain words I didn't know, in English. The location was nice, with a paid parking next to the building(1000 yen for a night). Apparently they also have their own parking service, but I didn't check into that. The location wasn't to bad either, 10-15min walk to Kumamoto Castle, and within range of lots of shopping/dinner options.

Thailandthe pillow provided it was too hard. the room quite small. and the car park was not free. There is fire alarm after we finished BF at the 1F so we have to use the stairs to 9F and almost have to carry the luggage by the stairs, luckily the elevator back to available. The information from the staff about the alarm was so bad they only give info with Japanese language.
Clean and good location. Hot Spring is very good. Breakfast is good tase with Japanese Style.

GermanyThe room bathroom had seen better days. Very dirty and worn off by corrosion. Also the basin temperature was hard to adjust. The hotel is located right next to a firefighters barracks, and as it was a heavy rain night. the alarm rang continuously, giving no chance to sleep.
The hotel is located a couple of tramway stops from Kumamoto railway station. Although nobody in the reception staff spoke English, they were friendly and supportive throughout the checkin procedure. The free drinks open bar in front of the reception was really nice and I appreciated the hotel restaurant with an extended menu with lots of options for all tastes. Also breakfast was pretty good. Last but not least the hotel hot spring were really cool, with dedicated areas for men and women.

FranceThe breakfast is not very generous for the price. So, I don't really recommand it, in particular if you are looking for western style food. The check-in desk open at 3:00pm, so don't arrive earlier in the hope to have your room in advance. Don't forget to take a pillow just after your check-in. I wanted to take one later but there were all taken...
The onsen was clean and pleasant (even if a bit small). There was a free welcome drink with various softs and alcohols at your disposal. The room was clean and the loaction of the hotel is quite convenient.

JapanThis is more of a personal opinion: while I did eventually get used to it, I really did not like the pillow provided as it was just too hard for my liking.
The "traditional" room that I had booked was tidy, and the bed was quite comfortable. The breakfast buffet, while limited in options, was delicious. The hotel is located between two tram stops, allowing for easy transportation around the city, and is a ten-minute walk from Kumamoto Station.
