Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceWe had a delightful stay at the Sonrisa. The villas are very convenient and furnished with great taste, the garden is marvelous and the staff is dedicated to make your stay as confortable as possible. The location is a bit far from the nearest shopping center but it’s ideal for a peaceful and relaxing time.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing. The road outside is very bumpy, but definitely worth it. My husband’s face literally lite up when we pulled into beautiful Sonrisa.
A piece of paradise! We loved everything. The beautiful spacious chalet, with a clean stylish finish. All the mod cons & equipped with a full kitchen. Fresh eggs, homegrown fruit, milk, yogurt & homemade bread was topped up everyday. The staff were very friendly. All areas were spotlessly clean, very comfortable & and beautiful view from the bar/lounge/restaurant across the pool onto the sea. The property was located at the end of the beach, which was quiet & an easy walk up the beach to other hotels & cafes & a sand strip out into the sea, if you fancied more company. Otherwise it’s the most relaxing, quiet tranquil place I have stayed out. Highly recommended places to stay away from the hustle & bustle! We had a massage at the resort, ahh it was wonderful & a very, very good price. We loved it so much, the other guests staying booked straight away. This place only has 3 chalets, which is prefect. Also an option for a family group or friends.

United KingdomIt’s an amazing place to stay. There is nothing not to like there!
We spent 10 days at Sonrisa and I wish we could stay for longer! Antonia makes you feel very welcome, the place has everything you need and you genuinely feel very welcome. 3 golden retrievers are a nice bonus if you like dogs like me (they will leave you alone if you show no interest in dogs). There are plenty of food options - you can have it at the villa, walk to a few places by the beach or take a tuk tuk to the centre of the town. It’s a beautiful place which is great to relax and unwind. We will def be back.

BelgiumIf you are looking for a slice of paradise that offers peace quiet and 100% relaxation, Sonrisa is the place to go. The accommodation is modern, clean, and has all the comfort you require. The garden, bar, large swimming pool, and small private beach are simply lovely. The beachfront view is stunning. Everyone on the premises is so kind, from Antonia being an amazing welcome at the reception, to Iwona, who is the warmest host, Sonrisa feels like coming home. The food options are a bit limited, but the quality is of a great standard. The frozen Banoffee pie is highly recommended. There are 4 dogs on the premises, and they are very well trained. If you have interest in dogs, they will come for a cuddle. If dogs are not your thing, they will leave you alone. We enjoyed our time greatly!

BelgiumMy stay at Sonrisa was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of hospitality that made me feel right at home. The villa was spacious and luxurious, with modern amenities, and attention to details such as fresh flowers everyday, home made jam and bread, eggs from the farm.... Exceptional service provided by the hotel staff: from the front desk personnel to the housekeeping team, every staff member went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met. The hosts are truly dedicated to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment. Their professionalism, kindness, and genuine care for their guests truly set them apart. Asante sana!

United KingdomSonrisa is a very special place. If you want a calm, relaxed time in beautiful surroundings then don’t hesitate to book here. I stayed with my girlfriend in November 2021 for 3 weeks and we always felt welcome and extremely well looked after. The grounds are beautiful and spacious with a range of trees and an especially large and very well-kept pool which is a delight to swim in, with a range of sitting and reclining options around it both in and out of the sun. The grounds overlook the sea together with a small private beach which is used to serve breakfasts on a Sunday, or I believe on request for dinner, though I never actually tried this. Their chef is excellent and the food is very good and with a reasonably large menu. Accommodation is provided within a range of different villas within the grounds and they are all well maintained and delightful with comfortable beds and a good bathroom/shower room and a very good-sized living area. Four Labrador dogs who belong to the owners, happily roam the grounds and are always friendly. The owners are immensely helpful, as are all the staff who work there. Free WiFi is provided and actually works remarkably well compared to some WiFi experiences I’ve had in Africa! I can’t wait to return sometime.

CambodiaIt's pretty far from the more happening spots in Diani so getting around by calling drivers gets pretty expensive very quickly. Transport outside the hotel is almost non-existent so prior planning hours before you want to go out (e.g. for meals or to go to other beaches in Diani) is a must. Calling a tuktuk takes at least 30 minutes.
Very friendly staff - they really make the resort feel like your home away from home. Great place to stay to relax and unwind in peaceful surroundings. I enjoyed hanging out by the pool as well as hanging out with their dogs. Meals were consistently good but their desserts are excellent.

FranceSuperb hotel, perfect size and sapce for a boutique hotel, great garden, swimming pool, service and accès to the beach. What could still be improved according to me is the transport in /out the resort and to the airport. I was not convinced by the service delivered by the hotel partner ( not friendly, not cheap and not really helpful). Also a booklet with place to see/visit/activities in the room or more info at the reception could be a nice addition. But I would come back without any hesitation and recommend warmly.

United KingdomWell the location is perfect for getting away from it all but it is a bit of a pain when going out for dinner in Diani. It's a trade off really. If you want peace and quiet, you have to travel a bit longer into town!
Owners were kind and inviting. The rooms were clean and the food was great. The location was perfect for down time and getting away from it all but was a bit of a trek to get into town for goods etc

SwedenFood was overall good but of variable quality - fish did not always seem fresh but rather, seemed from the freezer, despite it being said/written that it was the catch of the day. Some dishes were quite tasty while others less remarkable. There was a lack of any working power outlet converters for anyone coming with foreign charging devices, so while there was one outlet in the bathroom with a European socket, this made our stay slightly inconvenient as we were trying to work remotely with dual laptops and phones that needed to be charged. The location right on the beach is fantastic, but for some reason there was much more algae in front of Sonrisa than anywhere up the beach that we wandered. This was not a big issue as the algae diminished significantly some 50 meters up the beach, but a cleaner beach would add to the overall appeal. Final small recommendation for the hotel would be to stock up on some essentials such as tooth paste, since the nearest convenience store is quite far away.
The hotel really is beautifully designed and a pleasure to be in. This is something that struck us at least once per day throughout our stay. Our room mirrored this experience. We had a lovely ocean view, a huge bed, and a great bathroom. Staff consistently exceeded expectations in terms of service, smiles and attention given. They were super flexible and attentive regarding when, what and where we wanted to eat our meals. The overall atmosphere among guests was friendly and the hotel had a familiar feel to it, with the owner's four dogs roaming the grounds occasionally looking for petting. For various reasons, we spent nearly every minute of our six-day stay on the hotel grounds, and we didn't get tired of being there for even one of those minutes.

SwitzerlandEverything at sonrisa was just perfect, the rooms are huge and beautifully decorated, actually the whole resort has been beautifully designed and decorated. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was super clean and is huge. We ate at the restaurant all but one night and the food was fantastic. the breakfast on the beach was really great. What can i say, we loved it, I would definitely recommend Sonrisa for anyone (unless you are looking for a party, then perhaps a little further up the beach). Thanks to all the Staff

SpainVery minor: No ceiling fan (but air con) and not enough hooks to hang wet clothes in the room. The friendly staff also helped us out with the fan and brought a standing one.
If you are looking for a relaxed holiday on a quiet beach, this is the place. The large pool (with sea view), the very warm and highly attentive staff, and the great food and cocktails make Sonrisa holiday-perfect. The garden with palm trees, bougainvilleas etc is expansive and as inviting to spend time in as the rest of the property (pictures on booking do not fully do it justice). The bathroom was equipped with an amazing selection of organic shampoos and body lotions (brand CG) that is tough to beat. The friendly owner is full of ideas how to constantly improve the hotel (if this is still possible at all…).
