I'm not sure if Grand View is in the midst of renovations—it certainly looks that way from all the rubble around it, but either way, the place is in serious need of upkeep. One of the first things to note is that there is no AC in the building, so unless you feel comfortable with just a (broken) fan in 37° heat, you will suffer, as I did. The bathroom is so tiny, the door cannot fully open, so if you are a bigger person, you will struggle to move around, possibly even to sit on the toilet. Be prepared to stay in rooms that don't appear to have been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The guest house does not offer guests filtered water, so you will have to purchase it in bottles. I could go on, but ultimately, I would not recommend anyone to stay at Grand View until the place has had a proper makeover.

While I have many positive things to say about the staff, how friendly and helpful they were, unfortunately, this does not make up for how crappy this accommodation is, overall 😕

Very small rooms but considering the price it was good. A couple of restaurants just outside and the owner was saying there building there own. The staff were lovely.

We booked a room and once we reached there, they said there was no room. everything is full. we walked in the evening for a very long, exhausted with a heavy backpack. Once we arrived at the reception, He said I could manage another room, that is on the top floor a separate room and he said I could give you a $1 discount. that's it. we had no choice so we climbed up to the 5th floor and stayed there in a room with dirty beds. It has no AC and it's very hot in the daytime. They should close the booking.com request once they fulfil the hotel, so the other traveller won't suffer, I even saw in the reception that another traveller was arguing because he also booked and there was no room available. From my suggestion, please make a call to the hotel and confirm your room before going there. Oh by the way the reception guy doesn't understand English much so you might need some help from a translator.

The location is good. It's close to the city centre. The reception guy is very funny, he is kind but not professional. They have all the time cold beer and cold water available at decent prices at the hotel.

The staff working there was really nice and welcoming, a bit out of the center but accessible. The room was clean and nice, they offer other services for an extra price and help you find a bus or else.

We arrived only to be told that there were no available rooms, despite our reservation. Us and another four guests. They wanted to give us beds in a shared room. We had to find different accommodation. The area itself is dodgy, to say the least.

Neighbourhood destroyed (no exaggeration) - weird people around (drugs?) - room is absolutely disgusting I have never seen that in 4 months of travel. I refused to stay but couldn’t get a refund.

I would not recommend this to anyone. In its day, this was the place to go. When the lake was still there. Now, it’s many years of being rundown & decay.

This place was a diamond. Now it’s just rough. I came here 13 yrs ago. Then it was worth every penny. Now, not worth a cent

It was dirty. Running with bugs. The doors didn’t lock. The bathroom was falling apart. And the front door was left open all night with no staff to be seen. There were random strange people in the reception area. Felt very unsafe and I would stay clear at all costs. Especially if your with children. We booked for 2 nights and after night 1 I asked for a refund for the second which they refused.

Utter rubbish.
