Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe building is older than in the photos and it isn't a hostel as advertised, but it worked out fine and was very inexpensive. Definitely needs better directions to find the place.
It was nice to have my own room--though they are quite small--but have all the necessary items. A good-sized window in the room, too. The staff is friendly and helpful. Laundry is free and there are enough machines and dryers. Kitchen on the top floor--small refrigerator in your room. Elevator to use. It is actually a student housing building for students studying for exams, not a hostel per se, but works. The bathrooms, halls, and kitchen are cleaned every day. Close to the subway and buses, a park nearby, and plenty of food vendors and restaurants. The staff is very helpful as are most people on the street if you are lost.

Hong KongThe bathroom was not always super clean but it was decent. You can hear other people talking in the corridor or the neighbouring rooms but usually people are careful not to be too noisy, so it didn't bother me too much.
The place is close to bus stops and a metro station, very convenient to go anywhere is Seoul. It is a student neighbourhood with plenty of cafes and study cafes and a few restaurants nearby, you will see a few other people without it being too crowded and noisy at night. The rooms are small but you have everything you need, especially if you just come back to the room to sleep at night and spend the day exploring. The kitchen has a nice view and you ca, have free coffee and cook if you want. The bed was warm, you have AC, a working mini fridge and good lighting in the room.

United KingdomMy room was adjacent to the kitchen. I couldn't sleep til 11pm with people in kitchen then I woke up again at 3am with people coming back from night out in the kitchen chatting. Was quite noisy and didn't sleep well.
Good value for money, good location. I think the set up is maybe student halls or not like a standard hotel. Perfectly fine for a short stay

FranceThe mattress is just a bedspring so it's pretty hard and uncomfortable to sleep on apart from on the back.
The staff is very nice and helpful, the place is clean and quiet, there's a big desk and enough space for all my stuff, it's not too far away from a subway station and food.

GermanyIt’s really just for a short stay and just for sleeping. The showers were dirty. No toilet paper in the WC (had to step back to my room which were 3 floors down). But okay for the price.
It’s cheap.

FranceThe stairs are overloaded with shoes, this is dangerous and there should be fixed shoe racks on all floors. The cleaning done in the corridors is not satisfactory, they always seem dirty, even after the person responsible for cleaning has passed. Mats at the entrance to toilets and showers should be changed daily. They are disgusting, and with an average of twenty people per floor, it is not hygienic. The showers are always clogged and dirty, and the toilets are disgusting, nothing seems to be scrubbed with a sponge and no surface is dried after the cleaning manager has visited. Even if it's a residence where there are mainly students, everyone deserves an efficient cleaning service, especially in common areas. Shelves in showers should be fixed and toilets should have functioning toilet paper holders, with rolls available replenished daily. And girls' showers should have individual doors. Collective showers aren't very 21st century.
The room is very good, despite the fact that the cleaning could be done better (it was dirty under the bed, there was water in the fridge and old tape on the desk, and the dust cloth is not pass over all surfaces). Elevator, free rice and coffee, filtred water station, laundry service is free, and the location is nice. It's more of a student residence, but the housekeeping absolutely needs to be reviewed at all levels.

PhilippinesBathroom and showers could be cleaner. Perhaps in such a busy place some reminders, warnings may be useful
Very professionally run. Good features for the satisfaction of both residents, local students and tourists. Homey, private, lovely and sufficient kitchen, useful rooftop. Location is perfect in between two subway stations and many bus stops Close by two parks and the Nodeul Island is 20 mins walk away offering either an art exhibition or concert every weekend. Also perfect place to exercise... Nice spacey bathrooms and showers

Having a private room was great. It cost the same as many hostels. Free laundry, rice and coffee all day. Good kitchen and area to meet people. Room had shelves, desk and chair so could do work. Small but don't need much more as a lean to. Good location, cheap and great buffet near by and arcades. Easy train or bus to anywhere. Chill and young neighbourhood.

United StatesIt simply felt old and a bit creepy. The shared bathroom area was so dirty with hair everywhere at all times (toilets were clean at least) and just looked like it needed a good proper cleaning. The shared shower shoes (luckily I brought my own) looked so icky. Not to mention the towels they provide are literally hand towels- so so small. The one small towel that sits outside of the bathroom area on the floor was so so brown and dirty. There’s also a no shoe rule in the hallway so you’re expected to step on this unless you hop over.
The location was good. Not too far from the train station and lots of local restaurants, cafes and convenience stores.

JapanIt wasn't very clean to be honest, and it was annoying to change the shoes whenever I went to the shared bathroom but I think it's an Asian thing because I know this from Japan. Please add a conditioner too in the shower, there were shampoo and bodysoap only.
It's kind of quiet and good location. Bed was nice 👍🏼

United KingdomMy own fault but the location was too far away from where I wanted to be in retrospect. Seoul is a big city so if the things you want to see and do are not close by I recommend you check distances and timings before you commit.

FranceThe common toilet and shower but for the price it's totally worth it. Wall are not too thick but didn't bothered me to have a good sleep. The nearest station is 10/15 min way by walk.
Nice place to stay, my room was wide. The building has an elevator compared to other places I've been. They provide with free rice if you need. There is a convenient store in less than 2 min away. And there is a lot of restaurant nearby. The staff is friendly and helped me out if I needed something.

GermanyBed mattress quality varies a lot! If you're traveling alone and don't want a mattress as hard as wood, take the double room! Also, the Aircon can't beat the dominant floor heating, so prepare for a very hot room.
-great student's place to meet a lot of interesting, young people -loved the coffee machine, ice maker and the fully equipped kitchen -free rice and coffee -self laundry possible in the same building -very nice and helpful hosts -very well connected to the city center and also to the airport -nice neighborhood
