Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe location is great for relaxing at the beach, but more difficult to get away for activities outside the hotel.
The staff were very attentive and were always friendly and keen to help. The breakfasts were lovely - possibly a bit overwhelming! They arranged dolphin watching one morning, and when we didn't see any dolphins they gave us a repeat tour the next day at cost price.

United KingdomI had a wonderful peaceful time here. It was lovely to do very little, swim, walk and talk to the wonderful owners. The room was ideal and the most important thing about Omeesha are the owners. They are genuine lovely, welcoming hosts. This place is not just for westerners it has many Sri Lankans staying here which is a great way to meet and see people. When you arrive you may feel disappointed as there are wind turbines close by (government owned) BUT DON’T let this put you off. Look beyond the immediate and remind yourself why you are here in Sri Lanka. Support the Sri Lankans who are working hard and in my opinion doing a great job amidst some difficult times.

United KingdomIt would be a really nice touch if the owners could invest in a water filter system to provide drinking water for the guests. Saving on plastic waste in the process.
Extremely well designed room in a beach bungalow. Naturally cooled by the breeze, with a spacious open air bathroom. Super comfortable extra large bed with well placed wall fans. Breakfast was very good, served by cheerful and friendly staff. The beach itself was very close and pretty clean by Sri Lanka standards. All told a peaceful and comfortable place to spend a few days.

FranceIsolated area surrounded by wind turbines and coal plant. Bungalow was a bit tired, and air-conditioning was an extra $10 per night if we wanted to use it. This should have been stated clearly when booking. Otherwise we enjoyed our 3 night stay.
Excellent food by the chef, and well looked after by team. Morning coffee on the beach, followed by an amazing breakfast. The tuk-tuk driver for exploring the peninsula was fantastic who gifted us with a large freshwater tiger prawn (crayfish) which was then expertly prepared by the chef. Good beach for swimming and relaxing.

Sri LankaWe were upgraded to the deluxe room, but the AC didn't work. Food is bit pricey as well.
We stayed only one day at Omeesha beach hotel and we really much enjoyed it. Management did their best to satisfy all needs of the guests. Great location near the beach, good place to view sunset. We had an excellent lunch and breakfast there. The place was very peaceful. You feel like you have the entire beach just for you. Nights were cool and the day we were there the temperature was very nice.

United KingdomHaving stayed at quite a few places in Sri Lanka, At this price point, We were expecting better, I Know its by the Beach , But we were not expecting the whooshing of the wind turbines overhead !, Plus rubbish Internet, Or the OUTSIDE BATHROOM, Which could be seen as a novelty, But bringing wet sand etc into the bedroom is a hassle, Along with the worst bit, Thousands of ANTS. Mosquitoes would have been peferred, As under a net, your safe, But ants got everywhere The Restaurant, Is crazy expensive for what it serves up, We have stayed at a few places where the whole meal was cheaper than ANY of the starters here, And better. Problem is, theres nothing else around so tough. Staff are nice, A good bunch

United KingdomThe staff stand and watch you eating and became too familiar. The bathrooms are dirty and have poor quality fittings. The door lock broke so we were moved to a superior room, which had a similarly grubby bathroom,
The beach is nice but the waves have a strong pull. The dining areas and shaded areas are nice. The rooms are adequate but like many hotel rooms in Sri Lanka lack clothes storage.

RomaniaAn absolute DISASTER! At first they are advertising as being a resort but the rooms are not so clean, the sheets and bedding smells like mole and the owners try to rip you off at any time. We had an incident at midday while taking a nap when the staff knocked to our door to alert us that a SNAKE slipped through the door and into our room. I jumped scared, started crying and shaking because snakes are my biggest fear. The staff and the owners were staying a couple of meters from the room, hence they were afraid of the snake too. They called a young boy and he massacred the snake in the room, leaving a huge mess behind. They said we can switch rooms but I told them we are leaving right now. The lady owner yelled at me “MAM, YOU ARE LEAVING TOMORROW“ because the next day was our check out. Hearing her yelling at me while I was physically shaking and crying, I got annoyed and told her she cannot dictate when I should leave or not. The bathroom is open to the outside so I couldn’t stay any longer knowing I can’t go to the bathroom in peace. She made me call booking to ask for checkout earlier because otherwise she would make us pay the full booking price. Thankfully for customer support of booking because they helped us to get out of there. We asked for the total bill and she inflated the service charge for rooms also (maybe for massacring the snake) and they took advantage of our situation and charged us 29.000 rupees for a car drive to Negombo. Their prices are ridiculous high comparing to the southern beaches, the property is not well maintained and they have a lot of staff but only a few are actually working. They also charge around 2.500 rupees for a main dish and the only fresh fish they are offering is tuna. We also eat shrimps but they were not cleaned and at breakfast they give you the hot water and an instant coffee do DIY. They also sold us a safari trip and charged us more than 50.000 rupees just for car transport, for 1h and 20 mins drive.
The only good thing was the ocean that didn’t have any waves and it was good to swimming.

Everyone super friendly owners, staff and other tourists. We were able to use the swimming pool at their other cabanas down the road. Cool , laid back atmosphere with a lovely private beach in front. The dolfin trip they arranged was amazing and we were able to do it before checking out on our 3rd day.

United KingdomIt would be nicer not to have the windmills on either side of the hotel and the power station very visible further down the beach. We did know they were there though and they didn’t really interfere with our enjoyment in any way.
Good sized cabana just behind the beach. Restaurant on the beach serving very good breakfast and a wide range of excellent food for lunch or evening meals. Very nice, cheerful and helpful staff. Pool available at sister hotel 10 minutes walk away. Private dolphin watching organised by the hotel staff, straight off the hotel beach.
