Lukewarm water from shower during cloudy days, but it seems common in the area as well as the low pressure

Wonderful sweet hosts, a family who leave below the 2 rooms. Very quiet and relaxing place in the middle of the trees, so you can see animals passing by sometime. Very nice breakfast and overall experience!

Sometimes at night I could hear many dogs barking but I think that is common throughout Sri Lanka. Much better than noise in the city!

Lovely hotel in the hill outside of Ella city. The surrounding area is so beautiful with abundant wildlife, and it is not too far to walk to the start of the Ella Rock hike from this location. The host is so kind and helpful, offering to give me rides to/from the city, and the breakfast is outstanding.

The nicest host we have had in Sri Lanka so far. Very clean and comfortable room. Price/quality ratio was at the top level. Do not hesitate staying in Solitary Resort. You will probably not find a better stay at this price. Breakfast was very tasty and had a lot of variety. View from the terrace was stunning.

Solitary Resort is a good way out of Ella town up a big hill and the elevation difference makes it a real challenge to walk. Tuk tuk drivers didn't seem keen to go there for less than 700 you can get lucky at 400going down. Otherwise it was very peaceful and stunningly good value.

Lovely room in a wooded location, great views into the trees, very helpful staff, great breakfast. Very tranquil location, lovey balcony with comfy chairs, wish we had stayed longer to enjoy some chill time there.

Shower wasnt great; low water pressure and took forever to get warm. But that's quite common in other hotels/Homestays in Sri Lanka we have found. Pillows and towels could be renewed. But overall, really nice stay!

Beautiful green view and location, just off the main road but very quiet. Many birds, squirrels and some monkeys to watch! Room was really big, furnished well and huge breakfast (combination of Western and Sri Lankan dishes). Very friendly host.

Our host Dileepa is the nicest and warmest person! As we did not want the hustle from the center of Ella, it was just the perfect place to stay. Surrounded by nature:) The breakfast was plenty and really delicious! You can reach the center within 20min by foot on the street. There is also a very nice walk on the railway tracks to ella center, which passes a beautiful waterfall. Dileepa also gave us free lifts to the center and brought us to the bus station when leaving. There are two very good local restaurants nearby, where we had delicious dinner. Thank you Dileepa for a great time! We would love to come back!

Amazing stay, location was great, rooms were clean and big, breakfast was amazing and plentiful, the host took us from the train stop and drove us back to the bus stop. Plus good place to start the Ella rock hike. We also enjoyed the nearby restaurant, village food corner

It is a fantastic place with an incredible view and such a great host, Dileepa. Just send him a whatsapp, and he will cater to all your needs, including great info about sights and restaurants in the area, even the best place to get your laundry done! The room itself is spacious, with a very comfortable bed, a fridge, coffee/tea making facilities, a nice bathroom, and a balcony that offers a special place just to chill and enjoy nature. I had to check out early, and he packed me an incredible takeaway breakfast to go. Thank you for making the stay so special.

The last metres to the accommodation are very steep. Guess that's the price for the view.

Pleasant host family and wonderful view. We felt really welcomed here. The room was very clean. Even a TV with some classic DVDs and little speakers to play music. Really enjoyed our stay here. Great balcony within the nature.

The only problem is the 1 min way to go down the location. But the host will carry your luggage & if you can carry your body weight, go ahead with this place.

The room is extremely comfortable & amazing view. If you’re looking for a cabin in the woods this is the perfect place. The host Dileep is such a humble guy & very helpful. He will contact you to pick & drop anywhere in Ella too for the stay. And such nice food, ask him for the dinner, he will charm it with local cuisines.

Dileepa is an exceptional host and we had such an incredible experience in his home stay in the beautiful jungle. The Homestay is located just a few kms from the main town of Ella, which Dileepa kindly picked us up from the train. He provided us a beautiful breakfast in the morning and we sat on the balcony admiring the beautiful view. The room is big and spacious and has tea/coffee/water and fridge. He was very welcoming and kind, helping us with anything we required.

Nothing at all. It was the best stay we had in Sri Lanka.

Everything! The place was just perfect. The room was spacious and clean, and we had everything we needed. Eating our delicious breakfasts while facing the mountains was a real delight, and even though we were not in the town center, we were able to do everything we went to Ella for, because our host was always there to arrange something at anytime, allowing us to go wherever we wanted, whenever we wanted.

Everything was perfect!

The name "Solitary Resort" might suggest a large place with bungalows or something like that but it actually is a charming homestay with two very nice rooms on the topfloor of the family house. Earlier reviews already mentioned it, but this place deserves to write it again, this is a really excellent place to stay. Our room was spacious and well equipped, the bathroom modern and spotless. The shared balcony where the sumptious, delicious breakfast is served overlooks the jungle, full of birds and with the occasional visit of a group of monkeys. Dileepa, the exceptionally friendly host is very helpful with information on activities in the area and organised a comfortable AC car with reliable driver to Galoya National Park for us at a very reasonable rate. It's a nice 20 minutes walk downhill to the centre of Ella (look for steps/shortcuts on the lower side of the road), the rather steep way back costs around 500-600 rupees by tuktuk. Long story short: if you're looking for accomodation near Ella and they have a free room, just book. Can't go wrong, highly recommended.

Wonderful place - not only because of the nice view, big rooms with fridge and even hairdryer but especially because of Dileepa. He is such a friendly and caring person and does everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. He is also offering a taxi service we didn’t know beforehand. We were short in time and more or less decided the same day that we want to go to Arugam Bay and he was driving us there for a very reasonable price. Can highly recommend this place!
