Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe had a wonderful relaxing time. All possible because of our wonderful butler Manoj who went above and beyond to make sure the stay was as enjoyable. It was my birthday and he made a lot of preparations with wine and cake. Very much appreciated the personal touch.

Excellent service, very attentive staff. Felt right at home from the beginning. Clean rooms. Excellent food in the water villa restaurant, and variety of other food options across the various other restaurants.

AustriaWe stayed in Water Villas and the private premium service is great. Adam, our personal concierge, took such a great care of us and made sure our stay was memorable. The Water Villas restaurant, while at first didn't meet our expectations, after we made our wishes clear, they not only improved, but exceeded our expectations. Chef Nuwan and his colleagues were amazing. Our server Ifaau (sp?) went beyond and above. All staff at the resort just makes the stay a really pleasant experience. If we ever returned to Maldives, we won't hesitate to return to this resort.

United KingdomI can't think of much here. Occasionally the villa pool wouldn't be manned but we could call for what we wanted.
The staff were all very helpful. They often already knew I needed gluten-free meals, so I helped point out what I could have and what they could adapt for me. Our butler Niyaz helped us book excursions and meals and gave us interesting information on the local wildlife, which is plentiful. The complimentary snorkle equipment was the most useful thing this holiday. We spent most days going for at least one snorkle around the home reef, with its hundreds of fish species and ocean life. It was like swimming in an aquarium. We even got to see a few turtles on our swims. The cocktails were lovely, plentiful, and not weakly poured. The bed was huge and super comfortable. And we were thankful we could turn the light on the aircon unit off. The curtains even blocked out most light for sleep, which was brilliant. The back jacuzzi was wonderful, sitting in that whilst a storm rolled by with a cocktail and canapes in hand was a wonderful experience. I can not recommend enough going to Hanifaru Bay. We got to swim with feeding manta rays who came so close that they would sweep past and touch us slightly. Such giant majestic creatures, really it was a magical experience.

The water villas were right on the reef so had great snorkelling. They also came with an exceptional restaurant and a personal butler.

United Kingdomnone!
Everything is to like about the property. To start, I travelled in my own and was a bit apprehensive trying to choose a good 5* place in Maldives to cater for my needs of having a relaxing time away from the noise and cold of London for 2 weeks, good service, excellent food and variety of choices, I am so glad I chose the Adaaran Water Villas!: the location of the water villas cannot be better, snorkelling is fantastic, it was a fantastic exclusive place, as I wanted it to be. My butler Chandan was extremely kind and very respectful during the whole stay, reminding me of bookings I had and taking me every time to the spa treatments I booked in the golf car they have to transport guests in the island. he also helped me with reservations and gave me advice during my stay. he was available 24x7 (not that I called him at funny hours! but I knew he would be there in case of an emergency etc) The food is second to none in the water village exclusive restaurant and the service of Human, Asim and so many others made the whole stay to feel at home while being on holidays, really cannot fault anything! thank you for an unforgettable stay!

United KingdomOne one minor issue was the level of the music coming from one of the resort bars - could have been turned down particularly after 22.00 / 23.00 when many people had turned in for the night.
Really well executed transfer from the hotel, and resort intorduction upon arrival. Great room with swim in -swim out facilities for those keen on snorkelling. Really great staff - always happy and smiling and keen to make sure our stay went well

NorwayWe had a wonderful stay at the water villas and can highly recommend it! We didn’t have to lift a finger - everything we needed was just a call to butler away, and the food in restaurant was delicious and well-balanced. Menu was changing everyday, and we could choose from many different options. In fact, we were so content with Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menus that we forgot to try ordering evening finger food or visit the ice cream hour. We enjoyed the high tea several times though and it was a lovely touch. There was also a big selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails which was a pleasant addition to the holiday. Service was good and not pushy, all personnel we interacted with was friendly and pleasant. I would like to note that room cleaning totally exceeded our expectations! It was not only extra clean every day, but even the smallest items were put together in a super organized manner, including charging cables and hair bands. We loved our stay and are willing to come back.

United KingdomThe gym was very tired, poorly equipped and not very clean - not matching a resort of this standard.
Loved the staff all were so warm & thoughtful - and especially Niyaz, Homam, Shivan, Devi Rani and Iyaz- who went out of their way to make guests have an amazing experience! The water Villa was perfect especially being able to step off our deck into the water to snorkel on that stunning reef - wonderful! Food was fabulous too - particularly the wonderful curries made by Shivan “Iceman’ and in the Indian restaurant.

SpainThe worst experience in our stay was at the time of the checkout. We asked for a free extension until the seaplane departure (it was at 5:30 p.m. and checkout time is at noon), and we were asked to pay 150USD or 250USD, depending of how many hours we extend our stay. Last time we were here, we got a free extension until 2:00 p.m. (our seaplane departed that time at 2:30 p.m.), what was very good and we told that to Amjad, the Guest Relations responsible, and we got very bad words from him, telling us that each time is different and, if we want the extension, we have to pay (all of this with a very ugly tone of voice). We just asked for what is written in the instructions book that you find in the room: "we will make every effort to permit use of the Villa until time of departure from the Resort". If you have to pay, I do not feel like the hotel is doing any effort if I have to pay for it. As the number of Villas is very limited (20), we asked of an extension in a Beach Villa (of the Adaaran Select Meedhupparu), as we got the last time we were there, but this time until 5:00 p.m. In the end, we got the extension until 2:00 p.m. (which is better than nothing), but it was a pity because we could have enjoyed the day until 5:00 p.m. This was the 4th time we were at this resort (yes, the 4th time), and we expected a little more from a 5 star resort for the only thing we asked to them during our stay, considering it was our 4th stay there. The flip flops in the Water Villa were already used and dirty, but we did not realize until we arrive in our country; if we had noticed before, we could have asked for new ones... We heard the music from the room next door (each Water Villa hosts 2 rooms), and the first two days the music was on all the day.
The Water Villas are an incredible place inside the paradise. The Villas are very big and clean, the bed is huge (2x2 meters) and very comfortable, the jacuzzi is great, the views are unbeatable, you have private swimming pool and private beach (only for the Water Villas guests),... One very good thing is that, by booking at least 3 nights in the Water Villas, you get for free a 30 minutes massage in the SPA for two people (back or feet), a romantic dinner in the beach and one of these two excursions: Sunset Photo Cruise or the Sunset Fishing. The snorkeling area around the Water Villas is incredible, one of the best snorkeling areas in the Maldives. We saw about 6 or 7 small black tip sharks (harmless), a 3 meter stingray and 2 beautiful turtles!!! The food is delicious in the Water Villas restaurant. The breakfast is great, a lot of variety and a lot of quantity, and everything is great. Both lunch and dinner were all super elaborate signature dishes, with a delicious flavor and a lot of quantity (a huge volcano of excellent Australian sirloin, for example). Our butler, Chandan, was very friendly and was always waiting to organize everything we needed (appointment at the SPA, romantic dinner,...) and also helped us to book an excursion to Turtle Point + Nemo Reef in a few hours. He also got us 2 extra checkout hours. Our waiter, Nuaim, was also very friendly and helpful, checking to see if everything was okay or if we were missing a drink at all times. It was a great experience to taste such exquisite food, without missing anything. This time, we had WiFi in all points of the island, which is very convenient to talk to your relatives. We had an italian Francis Francis coffee machine with "illy" capsules in the room, which is very very good coffee and, actually, is my favourite coffee brand. We had free Kit Kats and drinks in the minibar (replaced everyday) and in the bars and restaurants of the island, until midnight.

United StatesGetting to the Maldives from the States is a chore - especially during COVID. I would recommend breaking up the trip if possible. Other than that, Adaaran made the time in Male as comfortable as possible.
Absolutely amazing experience all around. A resort within a resort. Service was impeccable from the moment we stepped off of the sea plane. The over-water villa was spacious, well appointed and the setting could not be more perfect. Literally a few steps into the ocean and the best snorkeling experience we've had. The food couldn't have been better. It was so good, we had to take a break from four course gourmet every sitting. The staff were superb, especially our personal butler. The trip of a lifetime!

FranceThe buffet restaurant. I did not appreciate the varieties of the plates. No enough sea food provided. The only plates that I appreciated were the sea fruits (lobster, shrimp & calamari) and I was charged extra money for ordering them although the deal I got was all inclusive. However I did not get back to this resto again. The other restaurants are formidable and really good.
Perfect size of the resort No crowds Excellent service and exceptional organization from the moment you arrive to the male airport until departure Excellent service and support provided by the personal butler, was Naaf in my case. All the restaurants, except one are imazing and provide exceptional cuisine experience, really lovely.

PortugalFor a 1000$/night hotel, it was quite terrible for the following reasons: 1) The food (excluding the breakfast) was of terrible quality and took an abnoxious amount of time to be served, every single meal, every single day of our stay; 2) The all inclusive is very much not inclusive at all. Everything is an extra, and what is available is very limited in quantity and in schedules. The meals were served on a very limiting schedule, the activities were all extra, there were no snacks available during the night. 3) Every single issue we raised was dismissed by the staff in a very disrespectful way with no compensation associated. It was all "being taken care of" from the first day until the last, with no real improvements in sight. 4) The internet is absolute garbage, social media would not load from the very first time we logged in and the management would then proceed to call us out on our "heavy internet usage". 5) Our room tab was closed before the last day of our stay, making it hard for us to pay for said extras. 6) The shower consistently leaked and inundated our bathroom, while nothing was done about it during our stay.
The location and view of the hotel and the water villas specifically is outstanding. We really enjoyed snorkeling around the reefs. The breakfast was pretty diverse and of good quality. Our butler was cordial and serviceable. The room is great, the jacuzzi was nice. The minibar was refilled daily.

United KingdomMotorised water sports and snorkelling excursions are VERY expensive, to the point where they felt like a rip off, though I expect this is how the resort makes its money given everything else is included in the room rate. This was made worse as the day of our turtle and mats ray spotting excursion the weather was terrible and the water sports staff could have advised us to wait for a day with better weather. On the other hand, the dive point seemed much better value for money. Also, note each of the water villas have two bedrooms, so for honeymooners seeking absolute privacy be aware you may be able to hear your neighbours. This wasn’t an issue for us, as we liked to play music in our room and our butler kindly offered to speak to our neighbours if they were being too loud.
Where to start… My wife and I stayed in the water villas for 7 nights to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. The villa was spacious and tastefully decorated with an enormous and comfortable bed. Naaf our butler was fantastic and extremely helpful at organising every aspect of our stay. Private facilities (bar/restaurant, pool and beaches) reserved exclusively for water villa guests were excellent. Food in the restaurant is of high quality with a daily changing a la carte menu. One evening we caught a fish during an included fishing excursion and the chef kindly cooked it for us (it was delicious). One evening we had the seafood platter which was exceptional, with lobster, giant prawns, crab and squid. It was extra but well worth it. We also made use of the other facilities on the island (restaurants, bar, pool etc.) for a bit of variety and for people watching! The island itself is beautiful and surrounded by its own house reef (most beautiful on the north side of the island), with plenty of fish to be seen whilst snorkelling (we even saw a turtle). There is an excellent selection of water sports available, as well as snorkelling and island hopping excursions, a dive point offering diving for all abilities. There is a beautiful spa and my wife and I went for a 2 hours couples massage which was probably the best massage experience and most relaxed I’ve ever been in my life! Overall we had a wonderful experience and cannot rate this property or the resort staff highly enough.
