The lobster in the pasta was very chewy, but aside from this dish, the rest of the food was very good. The octopus carpaccio for example was delicious! They also charged us quite a bit for breaking a glass, which I understand but thought unnecessary considering the price of the rooms. Still Hotel Mawimbi was absolutely 10/10, would stay again!

Total paradise! Waking up and going for a morning swim in the ocean, having breakfast on the beach, taking a bicycle around the island, dinner by the bonfire: it really is a magical place. The location is excellent, very close to the centre of town without being loud or too busy. The food is good and absolutely worth enjoying a lunch/dinner there just for the joy of eating on the beach in absolute comfort. I LOVED the furnishings - beach lounge chairs of all kinds, hammocks, big suspended beds, wooden chairs. And the family has some adorable dogs wandering around the property so it really feels very homey and comfortable. All the staff are excellent, especially the guest manager who was so kind and very accommodating and efficient.

Drinks are pricey, but so were all of the places on the beach. There is construction next door due to a fire at the neighboring hotel. The staff did their best to shield us from the noise and even switched our room upon request.

This property and the staff exceeded our expectations. The hotel was lovely. The beach was immaculate. The water was calm, clear, shallow and warm. Each beachfront property had a different feel in Holbox. Some were loud, and and played upbeat music. Others were very casual and touristy. Hotel Mawimbi was beautiful, thoughtful, romantic, and classy. The staff was friendly. They worked tirelessly around the clock to rake the beach, clean the seaweed, and dust and sweep the sand. I've honestly never seen so much work put into maintaining the pristine beach, and gorgeous property. The Hotel was private, yet very centrally located. It was an easy walk into town on foot. There were delicious meals just steps from the property. The breakfast that was included was very yummy and beautifully plated. The coffee was tasty, hot and strong. The tostada de pulpo was delicious and beautiful. We were thoughtfully looked after by quite the staff! Everyone made it a point to know our names. Jimena, Marcia, and Gabriel were approachable and accommodating in the office. Beto was friendly at the bar. Ivan, Christian, and Moses tended to us on the beach, and more. The property was very close to the ferry and all of the action in town. I loved that they tried to use glass as much as possible and limit plastic use. They were really doing their part to keep the island beautiful, and minimize waste. We have no complaints, and we hope to come back!

Some light sleepers might struggle with the noise of the mopeds or ATVs (Holbox is a car free island but there are still lots of loud commuters) but nothing some ear plugs won’t help with. We were at the back of the property so felt this a bit more but honestly wouldn’t think twice about going back to Mawimbi because it is sensational and I’m sure all beach front properties struggle with this in this (perfect) location.

Hotel Mawimbi was absolutely stunning, it blew us away, the staff and owners really care and you can see and feel that in lots of details across the hotel. The beach setting is gorgeous, the most luxurious and spaced out of all the hotels we saw in Holbox. The food was also incredible, so easy and relaxing to spend your days at Mawimbi. Cannot wait to go back!

Be prepared to pay a service tip on everything including the complimentary breakfast and bring lots of bug spray as the island has lots of mosquitoes.

Quiet beachfront hotel with clean rooms and friendly staff. The hotel is right by the centre of the island and a couple of minutes walk to bars and restaurants. The daily breakfast is interesting and varied and it is lovely to be able to order food and drinks from your sun lounger.

The wifi was spotty, but that was for the entire island. Unfortunately it is not a place you could work remote from, but that is a bonus if you are truly trying to disconnect.

The property was amazing. It was right on the beach, the staff was so accommodating and the food was stellar. We loved that the property was small and boutique style because it felt less touristy. We will definitely be coming back and bringing our parents. Our stay exceeded our expectations.

The breakfast was subpar, we ended up eating 3/4 in town because we were so hungry after the first day and you only have one option. The whole beach has a lot of dry seaweed so not their fault but some properties do a better job at cleaning it out.

We absolutely loved our stay at Mawimbi and will be coming back! Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and the most beautiful strand of beach! We chose a room with balcony but honestly did not go on the balcony once, since the rooms are litteraly steps from the beach!

The breakfast was a bit simple and it would have been great with some options to choose from. A couple of the waiters seemed uninterested in the guests. It would be nice with some more hooks for the towels and also the room was a bit small and a little bit difficult to unpack and fit clothes for two persons in the closet.

Location is amazing! Most of the people working there was lovely. Room cleaning was spotless and restaurant and beach area super nice to hang out in. Would definitely recommend and also love to revisit. Also very close to the center of town but still quiet at night. A perfect place to relax.

The beach is noisy from bars on both sides of the hotel up and down the beach but of course Mawimbi can not help that. Everything else was perfect!

Mawimbi truly has the best beach on Holbox. I enjoyed breakfast every morning and speaking with the friendly staff everyday. There are more than enough seating options on the beach to choose from and I love the vibe of it being a smaller hotel. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. We booked a room with a balcony but no view and I'd say I'd probably be just as happy paying less for a room with no balcony since the beach is literally steps from your room. Also great location to walk to the center of town. Can not wait to return again.

We didn’t like the same guests “saving” the best beach beds every single day, but that has nothing to do with the hotel and everything to do with entitled people.

The breakfast was fantastic as was the location, right on the beach. The room was bigger than we needed, but we knew that when we booked as it was the only room available. The shower was awesome! We would stay here again and again and again. Absolutely amazing!
