Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe beds. The beds need to be better. This was not the room that was on our booking so I’m not sure if we just got the terrible beds but we are still in some pain from them. Sleep is important to health.
The breakfast was good, we enjoyed the Mexican breakfast and the last day was off the menu so we got our fried eggs. They did not offer tea ( without charging) tea should be included. Location was good, easy to walk for us. The beds were brutal and I feel that this shouldn’t be like this. The staff were all wonderful and helpful.

United StatesThe staff never responded to my attempts to contact them.
I would have appreciated a civil response to my attempts to contact them. I had an accident and illness shortly before I arrived, but only was told they would not refund $1000 for an expected six-night stay.

United StatesI was in Zihuahuatanejo, Mexico staying at a bad hotel January 22 to 26, 2024 on a Booking.com reservation. The service was poor but the facilities were worse. None of the rooms have phones in the room. The TV in my room did not work and had to be replaced. The tv's in the room are only 12 by 18 inches. There are no stations in any other language but spanishTV I booked and paid for a suite which was badly equipped with simple military style beds, no decoration. No chair, no table. No view. No interior decoration other than a few strange pictures on the wall. The internet only worked outside the room in the corridor so I had to change to a smaller room in a different part of the hotel where I could get internet reception. The shower handles fell to the ground when I tried turning them on. Three days after I told the front desk, someone came to replace the faucets. The bathroom was very small and not well equipped. There was not a chair in the room, only a small stool. The rooms have only a small window looking into the corridor which makes the rooms dark and visible to anyone passing along the corridor. The breakfast which is included in the price has a very limited offering of 4 or 5 choices of eggs. Anything else is charged extra. The car park is 100 meters up a very steep hill from the hotel and is locked. Anytime one wants access to the parking one has to have someone come from the hotel down the hill to open the gate and relock it. Very inconvenient. There are rooms on 4 floors but there is no elevator. All the stairs leading to the pool have no banisters. The entry to and exit from the pool are made difficult as there are no banisters anywhere. Around the pool there are only 2 chaises longues and 2 sets of tables with 4 metal chairs. The rooms all need paint which is peeling in various places. No bathroom amenities are offered except small bars of soap. The towels are hard and not absorbent. The beds are simple mattresses on a wooden support.
The bedsheets are so rough it is almost like sleeping on sandpaper. The hotel has no view of the ocean. The closest beach is an 8 minute walk from the hotel . The hotel is neither in town nor on the beach. There is fine 4 star hotel, Don Andres, across the street and on the beach with nice large rooms with ocean views and balconies . It only charges US$ 20 per room than the Zihua Caracol. Brealfast is limited to 4 items. All other order paid a la carte. Very poor breakfast.
