Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyYou have to walk 25 minutes to Coral Bay to get more "action" which is easy doable. But the beach is not as nice and you have more Restaurants but the food is pretty much the same. Room is a bit run down.
I stayed at three different dorms on this island (also Coral Bay and Long Beach) and this was by far the best one. Staff friendly, beds really comfy, aircon, really easy to meet people, towls for showering and the beach, lown snorkling masks. Best beach I've been to on the island.

GermanyThe shower could have been better. WiFi was spotty and unpredictable - but this is the Perhentian Islands in general.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was good. Situated in a convenient location near Coral Bay.

MalaysiaNot much food options probably due to Raya holidays. The beach facilities (swing, hammock etc) need some upgrading and cleaning. Wifi not strong in rooms. Data has 4G, I am using Digi.
Location - Secluded and peaceful location, around 20 mins walk to long beach. There are several places for food within walking distance. Service - TIP TOP SERVICE !!! Very friendly, approachable staff and reasonable price of food. Customer service replies instantly on WhatsApp. You can trust them with your fun dive and PADI open diver course, very professional and attentive instructors. Rooms - No problem with electricity and water supply. Beds are new and clean. Floor sometimes sticky, overall cleanliness is acceptable.

GermanyWe waited over an over for our food and after complaining about it they brought us raw seafood from the barbecue which we returned to get back on it. So waited even longer. My burger wasn’t ready either.
I wanted to have a day to myself and do and meet nothing and no one. It was super calm there and relaxing. The trees helped to stay a bit in the shadow and it was a really nice vibe.

Singaporenothing much, we have to take a boat if we have to go other island and main party area. but that can be forgotten considering we get a private clean beach, isolated.
Compared to rooms in the mainland, room in this resort in a remote island is way better. Come with a mindset of visiting nature not to enjoy luxury.

Amazing location, quiet with a private beach. Restaurant was ok and the place had a small shop with suncream, drinks and snacks.

MalaysiaThe Family Room was way too high up the stairs for our comfort, and one who needs help with stairs should opt for chalets(when available), and the Family rooms are high up. For the Scuba as we were a big group, we could not do much diving, and hence would recommend going in smaller groups. (Would have expected to have more instructors to have smaller groups for the dive).
A good property, expect what is described by the owner. The beach/cove is great for snorkeling and relaxing. Clean rooms and Bathrooms. You may bring in sand with you, so make sure you dust it off before you get into bed. Would highly recommend this place. We were a big group (10 Adults, 7 Children), and giving a heads-up to the restaurant, helped us to have timely service. Unlike other feedback I read here, we had a very good experience with them right from the start till the end. They helped us plan our snorkeling and scuba trip.

AustraliaThe bathroom set up was fine, but basic. It’s an island, important to being an island attitude and not be fussy.
Amazing location on what feels like a private beach. Totally different from the rest of the island, just a little chunk of utter paradise. Lovely family run resort with excellent food and helpful welcoming staff. No alcohol, but that is to be expected in Malaysia, and adds to the lovely quiet feel. Fret not for there is a cocktail bar 5mins walk away at the neighbouring resort. Air con worked well.

SwitzerlandThey have only a few more chairs at the beach, there could be some more. Beside the area of the Chomel is litter (as on many places when walking on the island)...
The Chomel Chalet is located at a really nice beach in walking distance to Coral or Long beach. You can do snorkling at the beach (you see some fish and corals) but the also offer good snorkling trips. We liked our room close to the forrest. The food was good.

PortugalWe really enjoyed our stay at Chomel Chalet, mainly because of its location and staff. The beach in front is practically private, with only hotel guests, it's beautiful and great for snorkeling. The food was also good and the staff very friendly. We are not giving ten stars because the hotel needs some maintenance/modernization, but we understand that this type of service is not easy to hire given the location.

United KingdomThe dorm room is a bit basic and the bathroom could do with a bit of TLC - but you’ll spend most your time out the room so it doesn’t make much of a difference.
The location is incredible - own private paradise beach! Staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. And the price is very competitive compared to alternatives on the island.

FinlandHot water in the shower was broken but we got a discount on food to cover for that. Location is a bit too hidden (taxi boats to go there are expensive). There is no pier on the beach unlike in many other hotels in the Perhentian islands so getting on and off boats can be difficult. Lots of lizards and ants inside the rooms, rooms are a bit unclean but toilets are ok compared to other hotels in the area. The stairs to rooms were very slippery during/after rain. Only few sunbeds that were very hard, a few nice soft ones would be amazing. Breakfast is small.
Nice private beach but not the best one I’ve seen at the Perhentians. Food was ok, staff is very friendly.
