How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It's clean and cozy. I stayed in the room with 6 beds. There are 2 charging ports and a foldable table inside my pod so it's convenient to use the laptop in it. Aircon is strong to beat the heat in Malaysia

The hosts are very nice, helping with everything, even after leaving. I got many recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. I chose to take the pick up to the bus station and the host even brought me inside to the right place. It's a clean place with kitchen and free coffee and tea all day. I had the best hostel experience in Malaysia there!

should aware of foreign loudness at night. remind them before they check in.

Zero atmosphere. You don't see anyone, there's no place to hang out or socialize. Location is a bit far from the center, although that might be seen as a positive if you want to get away from the uber touristy areas. The person who owns or manages the place is rarely around, and little information or instruction is provided, but responses on WhatsApp were quick.
Good price. Basic rooms, but clean and comfortable. Wifi worked well.

It was very quiet, not social. But that can be a good thing also, it depends on what you are looking for.
Very clean hostel. I like the dorm with the capsules with curtains. There is also a common area and a kitchen. Walkable to the city centre. Right around the corner there is a cheap and good Indian restaurant.

I love the curtain in bunk bed. The location nearby Famosa, and 1km from Red Square. Your only transport around here are grab car or your own feet

Indian restaurant is 2 minutes walk away from my hostel place. Good value authentic Indian cuisine meals good quality taste. Very. Lean room and bathrooms and toilets are very clean. Walking distance near to attract places

It is important to know, that the pump for the shower has to be switched on to keep the pressure up.

The floor is made of wooden so its so loud when anyone step around the room, and there are only 2 toilets, 2 bathrooms
The owner is super nice, he sent me a list of things to do, to eat in Melaka. The location is super near Dutch Square, only 5mins walk. The restroom is good enough, they even have washing powder to wash my clothes. The bed in female dorm is cute, clean and private, AC worked so well. The whole house has good atmostphere

Since it’s built with wood, there’s cracking noise when someone walks on ceiling. But we just wanted a place to sleep and it was perfect

No cooking facilities in a spacious enough kitchen... Limited space for backpack in room especially if capsule room was fully occupied...
Jo the host was most helpful and accommodating in my requests. Jo also kindly assisted me also on my onwards journey. He also speaks excellent English... This is a quiet tranquil hostel well located to view all the sites of this charming town Malenka. It's approx 7 minutes walk from bus stopl @ Dataran Pahlawan Mall... I booked 3 nights originally but extended it to 6 due to the homily nature of hostel and the laid back but vibrant town ... Secure lockers. . .. I strongly recommend a stay in this place... overall very good value. .

Not a social hostel. But perfect if you want to chill and do your own thing.
- Clean comfy beds - Great location next to the fort and stadhuys - Free coffee & tea & water - Jo as a host was exceptional. Nicest guy ever and gave great tips on food and places to explore.

I like everything here. Building itself does not guarantee total sound isolation, has a summer house feel and squeeky wooden floors, but to me its a part of its charm
Heritage building immaculately clean and well maintained, perfect location, lovely people who care for. There were just a few other guests at the hostel so it was not too busy and very airy. Has a large kitchen well equipped with fridge, cutlery and water dispenser

Our room was just next to the stairs and under a wooden floor which was very loud when stepping on it. There were not many people walking on the second floor in the night so we could sleep quiet good. They tried to put a carpet there but it didn’t help much. The furniture in the shared kitchen was ok, clean but very old.
A nice clean place close to the city center. Especially nice was Santia, the receptionist which helped me to find my lost passport and was a huge support for me in the hard time.
