How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Was looking for a budget room to come back to at night while attending a festival, and the place exceeded our expectations! Very nice room, beds were comfortable, nice shower and bath, curtains made the room pitch black the room was cleaned and sheets were replaced every day and also the reception desk was available 24/7

I couldn't find the entrance. My GPS kept taking me to the exit which caused me to at one stage, drive into the wrong lane. There also wasnt room srevice
The room was lovely and the food at the restaurant was great. The tournedos with the red port sauce was so good that I ordered it twice! Very clean and good location. The spa was lovel and there is also a fitness centre. Overall a great place to stay

Unfortunately we had very bad experience with my fiancee due to theft of our car. This crossed all of the good parts of our stay. In the evening before our final day we parked our car outside in front of hotel building on the official parking lot. Next day in the morning when we supposed to check out and go back home to Switzerland I came to the place where my car was staying and undertood that it was STOLEN. It was stolen from the official parking lot of the hotel. First I went to reception to recieve help from them but it was obvious that they didn't want to help me on the instant. Just try to pretend how it is like for the person to lose his car in another country. So I actually had to forse them to help me with the issue and help me to talk with the Police. I was lucky that I had application on the phone that had GPS position of my car, so Police found it very easily and brought it back. It was fine on the outside and tottaly a mess inside, interiour ripped apart and driving plates were also gone and missing. As a result I wanted to speak with the manager of the hotel to understand how did that happen and take the responsibility for this accident, but their answer "killed" me. They replied that they are not responsible for the parking area and cannot help me with anything and "hope that this aacident won't bring their reputation as a hotel down in my eyes". I also remember how actively manager of the hotel asked Police staff with us to walk away from the reception so the other guests won't see that there is some problem.
We were very surprised by the quality of the bed, it was very nice soft and we even contacted the manufacturer to understand how we can purchase it for us. Overall quality of the services was good. Restaurant provides very good quality of the food with very nice variety

Stood for 5mins at check-in whilst the staff spoke amongst themselves. I made eye-contact with them but they finished their discussion first. Room was missing coffee cups & coffee. 2 of the soaps were half-full. Phone didn't work. Reception didn't pick up when i called from my mobile. Advertised self check-out, but no way to do this from the room.
bathtub and shower cubicle in the room was nice. Bed was fine. Good size room!

Checking out was charged for breakfast , but had booked with breakfast included, had e male to prove it, this made me feel it was a scam to charge again. Friend walked with a stick room was a long way from restaurants
Breakfast was good, used taxis a lot only one company served the hotel long wait for taxi.

Old rooms, high price, simple breakfast compared to other van der Valk hotels. Ugly building, Terrace was not open. Time for a renovation!

the room was close to the outside door and therefore very noisy as it was constantly got opened and closed with a loud noice. i asked for another room but only when i pay extra. I would expect a hotel is giving you a quiet room to sleep and therefore disappointing service. when you have a different room, i assume the hotel is providing better value.
