Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe place needs a little tlc, with widows falling apart at the seems and not closing completely. While it has heating it doesn't have air-con, and it might be saved by the fact its at the top of the building and can get some decent airflow with the windows open. Lacked a blind in one window, and those 4 flights of stairs can be a pain on the legs, suggest you be fit and able. The bedding was a bit cheap and plastic-ie, and needed washing badly. If fact one of the beds was saturated with sweat. While a washing machine was provided which was useful, it needed some liquid/tabs which were not provided. We asked at the reception desk which is 100 meters down the road, an while they did provide new bin bags they didn't have anything for washing. However for the price, and location, you would be competing with hostels sharing with strangers and tiny expensive hotel rooms with the utility of kitchen. The toilet arrangement was difficult as one of the sink was blocked, and I refuse to buy drain unblocker on my holiday the other is very small and has no mirror. Needs a deep clean, where some of the windows had some large patches of dark mould.
Location is 10 minutes walk from main town, and 3 minutes from super markets. Has a fridge/freezer (although it had been taped together with sticky tape at the bottom and needed a defrost) Cooker worked, and after a few days I figured out it had a combi (microwave/grill), although I did manage to the fire alarm off at the end of the week frying some bacon and eggs. Internet provided was a reasonable couple hundred meg. dishwasher provided Street market is held right outside every Saturday

CanadaWe asked for a crib when booking and we had a check in between 2pm-3pm, the crib came way later which was difficult after a red eye flight with a sleepy baby. The closet smelled like cigarettes, the cleanliness could have been better. If the photos were updated it may speak to that as the furniture has worn a lot and is different than shown. We could not find a blow dryer and tumble dryer that were listed in the amenities. The washer had mold inside and the fridge you have to really press to close (looks damaged) and there's a ton of tape being used. The Nespresso coffee maker also was faulty so you had to put your hand underneath to get the coffee pods to lock in to brew. When we arrived and tried using the gas stove top, the 1 lighter available did not work so we had to wait for that to arrive as well.
Loved the location, the 2 bedrooms, the beds were comfortable, the layout of the apartment and how quick the reply was from booking.com when I had any questions. The washer was a great amenity to have. The people in the building were friendly and it was a nice quiet neighbourhood. Easy check in- and the host helped bring our luggage up the 5 flights of stairs- really appreciated the help!

United StatesI didn't realize we were on the fourth floor and didn't know about the narrow staircases in Amsterdam. Luckily, we are in good shape. The entry light did not work during our stay though the other automatic lights were great. We did not receive a reply from the host about the light, so I suspect it was more than a burnt-out bulb. The information page was missing, but we did get the wifi code right away from the host.
The host was very helpful. Great bakery 2 doors down and lots of restaurants and shops close by. Close to museums. Loved it. Views from the apartment were wonderful and it was so nice to have our own bedrooms with windows. We walked everywhere, so the location was great. The split bath and living area were very nice as was the kitchen. I enjoyed just sitting in the early morning and afternoon.

Czech RepublicA few things still need fixing here and there (tv not working, flusher not working properly, a drafty window covered by a blind, another using a piece of foil to close properly). Generally these are not a huge problem if you're just in and out for a few nights, but will start to accumulate over time if not fixed. Other appliances were working fine, not taped like in the guest pics, so they must have worked on that. The heating worked fine, I was expecting that it would be much colder in the flat. Things were reasonably clean, though I did find an old receipt from previous guests on the floor behind a picture. As this was partially a business trip we asked them for an invoice which we were not able to get. People from the reception were telling us to text the number given for the flat, but after we asked twice at this number they ignored us and didn't send anything. Overall not bad, one of the few affordable and centrally located apartment options in town if you don't want the third person to sleep on a couch and don't want to stay in a three-bed hotel room.
The reception office was closed when we arrived during the pre-approved time, which made me a little worried that we had fallen for a scam. We had to call someone and fortunately they picked up. Eventually, someone finally came with the keys approx. 30 minutes later.

ThailandThe appartment is 4th floor (attick) so getting luggage up and down was quite a struggle. Beds are a bit narrow so we slept in two different rooms.
Lovely location and very nice appartment. Marvellous view. Small imperfections made us feel at home. Now under management of nearby hotel with very helpful team.

United Arab EmiratesTV didn’t work, one of the lights in the bedroom doesn’t work. furnishing is very old and outdated. sofa has cigarette burnt holes, washroom has rusty fittings and the shower too close to the wall, which is very difficult to shower. old utensils and cutlery in the kitchen. oven and microwave was so dirty that I didn’t cook at all during my 11 nights stay. the apartment is a dump. on the 4th floor so real task to get up there with luggage. Main living room window has Broken stoppers so can’t keep them open. window blinds are damaged. fridge door is broken and doesn’t shut hence all our food got spoilt.
just the area was good. the apartment is in extremely poor condition and not as per the pictures seen. There is a constant water boiler noise and water dripping noise in the apartment, which is quite disturbing.
