Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandWifi speed, pretty slow on the laptop as well as on the phone the days we were there. Noisy as there is a temple right in front of the window and every morning around 06:30 there was noise even we had our windows closed
Close to durbar square (2min walk) Affordable restaurants around the hostel Free water to refill your bottles Private external bathroom with hot shower and daily cleaning Quite big shop right next to the hostel where you can buy a lot of food as well as fruits & vegetable right in front of it on the street Super friendly owner that speaks perfect english and helps you with everything you need. He helped us to get around in the city with the white tuktuks and showed us some shops where we can buy food

AustriaThe property is in an exceptionally good location, close to Durbar Sq. (Kathmandu). The area is clean and safe, and it boasts a number of restaurants, bars, and cafes literally minutes away. Not to mention the sights: UNESCO World Heritage Kathmandu Durbar Square is about two minutes by foot (on a pedestrian-zoned street), and there are more beautiful temples every couple of yards - including one right in front of the property! I had initially considered staying elsewhere, but I’m glad I opted for Nirvana Kuti. My room was spacious, clean, and quiet, which is what I was looking for. And this came at a very affordable price. I also greatly enjoyed the hot showers (after a week of ice-cold showers on the road), the drinking water in my private kitchen, and the possibility to cook tea every morning. A big word of thanks also to the owner/manager. Bobby is helpful, knowledgeable, and he will find a solution to any issue you might encounter. He is from Kathmandu but also has extensive international experience, which allows him to empathize well with guests from abroad. His tips and advice helped make my short stay in Kathmandu a memorable one. I look forward to returning!

AustriaReally nothing.
Having come eight times to Kathmandu, Nirvana Kuti is the best place I ever stayed in Kathmandu: Just a few steps south of Durbar Square, you can enjoy authentic life of the city - so close and at the same time so far away from the tourist area. This place and neighbourhood feels completely safe also for solo women travellers. During the day, the street is bustling, during the night it is completely calm. The house is newly built, the room is nicely designed, the lamps give a warm light and the beds are very comfortable. Everything is spotless clean. The WC with shower (solar heated water) is private and you can also enjoy a small kitchen for making tea or coffee. Even drinking water is provided! There is a safe possibility for leaving your luggage while trekking (2 dollars/day). The owner is very friendly, speaking excellent English, he is extremely helpful and responsive to your questions and demands. You can also book a pick-up from the airport. NIrvana Kuti is the ideal place for independant travellers, I am looking forward to come back as soon as possible!

IndiaCan not think of anything I did not like.
Situated right within Durbar Square and close to Freak Street which has more restaurants and shopping . Villagers are selling their fresh produce on the street. Beautiful big room with a view of a Temple .I had the whole floor all to myself, with a bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. Except for occasional noise from the street? Mainly children playing? Very quiet as it is set back from the main road. Behind a small temple.. The owner is extremely hospitable and accommodating.. Drinking water is provided. Comfortable beds. Lovely decor. Very clean and sparking. Marble staircase. The ancient evocative energy of Durbar Square is amazing. Best value for money in kathmandu!

RussiaAnywhere in Nepal beware the solar showers if you're looking for 24hr warm water, because it warm only when sun is enough, when rains it's cold

United StatesBeing in the old town means getting around is a little crazy as the roads are narrow. The bathrooms are mostly private, but they are in the hallway. These are not really negatives, more something just to be aware of.
We stayed at Nirvana Kuti for four nights and the room was comfortable and Bobby was helpful in pointing out good places to eat and things to see. The room also came with a hot water pot along with tea and coffee packets. The location is right in the Durbar Square area which provides a cultural view everywhere you go.
